Has anyone read anything about using differently rated 360 power supplies and having problems? I got a new falcon chipset with the 175 watt ps and my other ps is rated at 203 watts. I don't want to do anything to upset the delicate balance of the POS 360 innards.
You can use the 203W PSU on a Falcon.

I've been wondering about power bricks... When I got a new one, boxed Elite, it came with a new brick, but an old cord. The fucking cord doesn't plug into the brick unit all the way. If I so much as bump it, it becomes disconnected and my machine shuts down. It's driving me crazy. I called MS and they said to 'push it in harder' which is bullshit, it doesn't fit! I had a friend's power cord handy and what do you know, it fit right in and stayed snug.Quote:

For the new bricks, you can use a computer's power cord. It should fit perfectly, and are dirt cheap to buy.
I tried one, and it didn't fit snugly. Maybe I'll grab a different cord :-/ I thought my brick was defective until I found a newer 360 cord that fit perfectly. My grey coloring on it is even off slightly, it's obviously not the cord meant to go with this brick unit. I'm kind of peeved that it made it into a sealed retail box.
Well, my second 360 died on me today. After giving me sporadic dirty disc errors, the POS won't read anything now. I swear to God, I'm at my wits end with this hunk of shit. It has a manufacture date of October 2007, and it doesn't work now.
The best part is that now I have to pay Microsoft to repair it (read: switch out for another console) because it's not under warranty. That's right folks! The 360 that Microsoft sent me only five months ago breaks down, and I have to pay them to repair it. Someone should pass a lemon law to stop these fuckers.
I'm seriously considering just tossing the console in the trash and trading all my games towards a PS3. My opinion of the 360 has just nosedived since I've lost 2 consoles in only a year and a half, and I sincerely hope that the costs of repairing all these broken 360s drives Microsoft out of the hardware business. My original Xbox's DVD drive died after a year and a half, and their wireless bridge only works line-of-sight (which it conveniently doesn't mention anywhere on the box, only in the instruction manual). The company sucks at making software, and its hardware is infinitely worse.
Fuck the 360 and fuck Microsoft up the ass with a wooden pole.
I hear ya Melf. The DVD drives in these systems suck. My Elite's drive died in less than 90 days (thank god for Target's prolonged return policy). That's just unacceptable. Not to mention the RROD. Don't give up on 360 yet, but the PS3 is certainly looking more attractive with some worthy exclusives this year.
Make it get an RROD. It's the only option.
I thought the warranty only covers *1* RROD?
