My day 1 Elite has had no issues, and I can only imagine the newer chip models are doing better and should only get better when they switch to the better GPU's. I have no regrets getting a 360 and wouldn't hesitate to get a new one if mine dies.

When's the GPU switchover supposed to happen?
The rumors awhile ago were that they have 2 or 3 more revisions coming down the pipe, each one like a year apart. Nothing else was said after that though. Maybe around the holidays the new GPU was going to come out? Something like that.
The other rumor is a price drop next month for for GTA, although nothing is around to prove that. I personally think they have to as looking in the ads and seeing a PS3 for only 50 bucks more is something MS can't let go any longer.
My friend got an Elite for Christmas and it sounds like a completely different console. Makes at least half the noise as mine.
im so sorry dude, the 2nd? jesus i hope this doesnt happen to me (my referb unit sent back to me after my 1st RROD is louder then my old 360, but thankfully doesnt DRE all the time like the old one did since day 1, or chew on discs like the 1st one). I believe RROD was covering since date of your purchased one. Some people have reported success at inducing RROD and getting MS to cover it, and replace it. Beware though, some have reported that MS fixes gpu problems, but any problems still existing on the system (say a bum dvd drive) will be neglected and youll just get your same 360 with the same bum drive.
no its just cause you fail hard. The only thing that is needed is final unification. With Home coming out in July, with in game XMB coming this summer, with news of how extensively 1st party games so far are supporting Home, even specific game sites so far and soon all of the playstation forums and web services using PSN log-ins, it would be an understatement to say both services will soon be on par.
you now know 1 as of last week when you met me.
Its because its ubisoft. What i really hate about developers this generation is its more rush rush rush out the door and then patch it later. Its like when we now buy are games, we are beta testing the POS and we need to wait and wait for fixes that should have been present day 1 to come out in patch form. Majorly fucked up games arent exclusive to the PS3 either, see: Bully Scholarship Edition 360.
What i also really hate is that now soo many MUST resort to sifting around, looking up serial numbers, waiting for revision announcements just to get a working console. This should have been fixed a while ago, so its more then just some mere faulty components. The damn thing should work out of the box and last, not have to wait on news on yet another cost reduced version of the 360 we rebuy, just to have a working one, at the same price.
anyway, thats my blurb.
any news of in game XMB was nothing but rumor, it was announced a month ago or so in-game XMB is this summer.
Home was supposed to launch in the fall, but Kaz didnt like the state Home was currently in, and opted for more dev time on it (this was probably some of the early stages of Harrisons exit).
Besides gears of war, i dont play with TNL. Beyond that point, its still extremely doable to play games on PS3 with each other. Its not like home isnt going to launch. Homes launch date in july was leaked along with release dates for a lot of PSN titles.
I know many of you just have an extreme, mostly unwarranted hate towards sony, but honest to god, instead of saying "finally sony is trying to make the PS3 a viable streamlined online console" you nay say and downplay. They are in 3rd place, they are going to do anything and everything.
Regardless of all of this, PS3 stuff can be cured within software, meanwhile the 360 has seemingly incurable hardware.
this isnt the ps3 thread, so please take it to the ps3 thread if you want to continue the discussion
