Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced a new Harry Potter title exclusively for Kinect
There's one Kinect blockbuster this holiday. Warner Bros Interactive continues to impress me as a publisher.Quote:
Developed by Eurocom Interactive, the British team behind Goldeneye, 007: Legends and Dead Space: Extraction, the title will span all eight Harry Potter movies and invites you to join Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and travel through the entire series story.
There’s a number of Kinect features mentioned in the announcement Press Release including the ability to scan your face into the game to create a unique witch or wizard to accompany the gang and spell-slinging using hand gestures and voice commands.
“Harry Potter for Kinect will engage Harry Potter fans old and new by bringing them into the wizarding world as truly active participants,” said Samantha Ryan, Senior Vice President of Production and Development at Warner Interactive. “Kids and parents will enjoy recreating their favourite Harry Potter adventures, from flying a broomstick in a Quidditch match, to battling pixies and duelling other wizards.”
The game promises to let players experience some of the most memorable moments from the films playing as both as the core Harry Potter cast and as their own custom designed characters. That includes getting a wand from Ollivanders, getting put into a house by the sorting hat and, obviously, battling Lord Voldermort.
Competitive and co-operative mini-games and game modes are also promised. Check out the first screens below.
My favorite game right now is Kinect Fruit Ninja. what what?
I got an achievement for whupping your ass in some score mode the other day.
THANKS BRO
I'm not going to play it, but I think you're nuts if you don't think every parent with a Kinect is going to buy this game for their kid(s).
This is a huge game, WBI got a pretty solid developer in Eurocom to make it, and WBI is a much better publisher quality-wise than say LucasArts and Terminal Reality making the abysmal Star Wars Kinect (and even that probably sold well).
I don't dispute the sales potential, but what has Warner Bros. published other than Arkham City?
edit: Bastion and the non-Star Wars/Indiana Jones Lego games?
I guess to their credit there's nothing awful on the list.
MORTAL KOMBAT!
Letting Rocksteady develop as they have the incredible Batman games alone is a feat. Had a blast with Arkham City, was one of my favorite games from last year. Plus they also published a WayForward-developed Batman: Brave and the Bold game.
The LEGO games are great, including LEGO Batman, with LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes coming out this year and sounding awesome. Plus there's the rumor of some LEGO Lord of the Rings game(s).
Last year they released Mortal Kombat and just recently Mortal Kombat Vita. Just last month they released, at least here in North America, the Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition which is fantastic.
I think they've done a superb job of picking their spots to establish/improve themselves as a quality publisher. Hopefully they keep it up.
