This is a stupid comparison also. There are a lot of things (stupidly) locked behind Gold on 360. Netflix/Hulu/Youtube, Internet Explorer, cloud saves, voice chat, kinect video chat, etc. Those are all things that I think are core to the 360 experience. The PS3 gives you most of those things for free. So on top of the fact that services that are free on the closest competitor cost money on 360 the perks of membership are much lower on the 360 as well. Remember, this is a PAID SERVICE.
Another way to look at it would be 360 harddrives or Vita memory cards. This FOUR TERABYTE HDD for my computer costs $150. This 320 gigabyte HDD for 360 costs $120. This 32 gigabyte memory card for my phone costs $23. This 32 gigabyte memory card for a Vita costs $90. Does it make someone "entitled" to wish that the prices were closer in those two instances?
Another way might be that I personally think Verizon Fios is a better service than Xfinity because of faster speeds, lower prices, a clearer HD signal, and better music options. But in my neighborhood I can only get Xfinity. Am I "entitled" because I wish Xfinity would improve their service to match (or exceed) their closest competitor?
Having to subscribe to gold to watch netflix on the 360 is complete bullshit for sure, that's the only reason I have two accounts instead of just one
Nothing about XBL Gold is free.
You're paying them money to unlock online play, which should be free, so the games had better be good.
Can you guys stop arguing about useless shit and get to posting a crappy high score in Fruit Ninja Kinect so I can beat it and get an achievement. I don't wanna waste the opportunity of moving my sofa this time.
Look. If week A the service costs $50, then week B the service costs $50 and comes with two games you can download and play for no additional charge complaining about those games is pretty petty. If you signed up for live because of the two free games then sure, bitch away. If it was something added later down the line then shut the fuck up. Or (and this is truly the revolutionary part) stop paying for a service that doesn't do the things you want it to.
That FIOS analogy doesn't work. You have access to PS3 and XBOX's online services, not just one of them. The hard drive one doesn't either. You need a hard drive to run your computer. You don't need live to run your xbox. You're complaining about the scoop of orange sherbet you get at the end of dinner at the Chinese joint.
I have a shit high score posted from a while back. Live the dream.
With the generational shift and many of us going for the PS4 with no interest in the Xbox One, a lot of us are actually at the point where we'd consider not resubscribing to Live for the first time. I think that changes the perspective completely. A couple of years ago we would have agreed that the free games were just gravy but now any scrutiny of the service is more valid than ever.
