I somehow got 200 points already. WIN.
Did you rate a car?
Edit: Lol, I got them too. WTF?
100 points each day? Nice.
Looks like it ends on August 25, and they are limiting you to 2,000 points per email address.
Edit: anyone get the second batch of points yet for making a car and rating one in the show room? All I've received so far is the 100 for registering on the website, but my account there shows that I have 200 points.
if thatll get me Rez HD for free then fine
Hrm, what else do i want on XBLA
I created a second account on a different email address but it looks like it is smart enough to only allow registration coupon codes to work once per Live account, even if they are different registration codes. :(
2,000 free points is still nice. :tu:
Sweet! 2k here I come!
Soooooo, do you have to register with MSN auto? can't find a place to do that if so.
Nope, you register right on the site.
Got it. Where do you pick MS Points as the sponsor?
It's at the end of the registration process, with all of the checkmarks. You can uncheck everything except the MS Points option.
With the "price drop" I think I'm finally going to grab a 360 this week.
How do I know if it has the new Falcon chip set and heat sink from the box? Has this really reduced the RROD problem?
Power supply. Too early to tell.
For Falcon, look online to check the lot numbers, I know supposedly over 7?? almost guarantees a falcon and most lots are over 800 now.

For reference, the console examined to have the new hardware was built on August 24, 2007 from team “FDOU” and lot number 734.
Or you could just look at the power supply. Search this thread, it's been asked recently. 175W I think.
power rating on the box is the easiest way, if it says 175w it's probably falcon-based (as said above)
OH SHIT, TOO HUMAN DEMO.
Well fuck, not up in Japan, and downloadable by Gold Accounts only.
prove Dyack right!
WOW. LOL.
The writing and dialog in this game are some of the most hilarious shit I have ever heard. The animation is awful. The art design is awful. The characters and setting and world look ridiculous. The gameplay is terrrrrrrible. This game is essentially Diablo, if Diablo were a twin-stick shooter. With auto-lock on. And the camera from PS1-era 3D action games.
I knew I was in for a treat when the first thing the game presented me with was a mother fucking Nietzsche quote. Wow. What a pretentious pile.
"It's a good day to die."
"You always say that!"
"It always is."
Want to play. :(
I may buy this game used, for like, seventy cents in a few weeks. This may very well be the first legitimate camp video game.
LOL. Man. When you push the right stick toward enemies, the game just fucking SLIDES you on over to the dude and has you slice his shit up. You can be ten fucking feet from the enemy, and it just tosses you on a magic fucking carpet, and SLIDES you on over to the mother fucker. The enemy could have died in the mean time. You still slide on over to him to perform your elaborate, ridiculous slicing animation.
This is incredible. :tu:
Sounds like Daikatana 2 imo.
ZOMG downloading now thanks to Chux. I'm so excited.
I want it to be horrible, but honestly it's Diablo/PSO, and I love Diablo/PSO.
I hate to say it but I enjoyed the demo.
I thought it sucked, but then again, I was never really anticipating this game anyways. I really didn't give the game much of a chance though. I got into combat and thought the game was pretty shitty. Then again, it's not really my type of game.
It seemed so clunky at first, but by the end of the demo I was enjoying it. Picking up new gear from your defeated foes and getting progressively more badass is always a winning formula. Controls still seem needlessly janky though, but the animation seems okay to me...not great, but suitable. Tons of onscreen enemies are fun, but the talent trees looked really weak, unless there's extra pages or something I'm completely missing. I think it would be worth it for the online co-op, but I recall reading something on PA a while back framing the multiplayer as unsatisfying.
Are there female characters in the full game? I thought there were supposed to be, but the character select screen doesn't give any indication.
So...ign said Square announced FF13 for the 360. Anyone care anymore?
(figured this is where this kind of news would go)
I haven't seen where it was said it's still PS3 exclusive in Japan. Just that in Japan the PS3 version will be out first, while the US/Europe will get simultaneous PS3 and 360 releases.
360 version for me now.
http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/14/ne...aims-ps3-only/
there's no point in releasing it for 360 in japan, cause like 10 people have the console there
edit: that's not to say either version couldn't/wouldn't be region free making the whole discussion moot anyway
edit 2: god I feel dirty citing fucking joystiq as a news resource
Huh, that's pretty silly of them to not release the 360 port in Japan. Even with the smaller user base it's still sales.
I don't.
well don't worry, maybe you can import the ntsc/u version for obnoxious prices
I haven't even finished playing FFXII but I"ll still buy 13 just for achievements.
I have 60 hours in on XII now and I don't think I'm anywhere close to finishing it.
Korly told me any webcam will work with my xbox360. Is he full of shit?
Korly is full of shit in a lot of ways.
What a bastard.
Some more info regarding what we learned at the E3 Press Conference.
Quote:
Netflix
* You must be an Xbox Live Gold subscriber as well as a Netflix subscriber to use the new Netflix service
* Similarly, anyone you share your movie with would also need to be an XBL and Netflix subscriber
* Like Netflix's current streaming service, all content will be SD only for now. They could offer HD streams as soon as Netflix is ready to deliver
Avatars
* They're not looking to create a "Home-like" environment for your Avatars – that doesn't mean a third-party wouldn't be able to do that, however
* You'll be able to keep your gamertag pics if you so choose, though they're encouraging everyone to transition to Avatars
* Games can reward you with items for your Avatar (chainsaw, please!)
* There will be no increase in the 100-friend cap on Xbox Live this Fall
* There will not be any Group (think Facebook) or Clan support in this update – they're hoping the "Party" system will satisfy those requests (spoiler: it won't)
Lips, Primetime
* They're not ready to discuss the availability of lyrics, beat charts, etc. for Lips when using your own music – sounds to us like they're going to charge for that content, but aren't saying how much
* Not ready to discuss the business model for Xbox Live Primetime – subscription-based? Free with Gold? Per game purchase?
* "Without being specific" prizes for Primetime will be similar to a television show (think: cash, a new car, etc.)
* Primetime would be a "lightweight client" that would be "somewhat extensible" depending on what kind of content is being plugged in
* It's "programmatic" so the experience will be programmed, but it won't necessarily occur during "primetime" viewing hours. It's just a name, people
Price cut
* Kim wanted to be clear they're not trying to mislead people with the 20GB price cut. "We tried to be very clear about the [availability of the] 20GB and that a 60GB unit was coming." (Emphasis Kim's)
* They have a timeline for when the 360 would be under $200 – the pricepoint where the majority of sales occur – but he wasn't talking, unsurprisingly
Back-compat
* Though Kim wouldn't say definitely that there would be no further backwards compatibility updates, he did say they're not actively pursuing it and that it wouldn't be a part of the new Dashboard update. We just want Beyond Good & Evil to work, that's all ...
The new dashboard is so ugly. I want the blades back already before I even have it. :(
I actually like the new I tunes look. Could care less about the avatars though.
Fuck this.Quote:

Yeah the 100 friends cap is lame but I got over it. How many of that 100 do you actually play games with?
The new dashboard is fugly. Netflix is cool though.
I've watched the SD movies off the MP now when I don't have enough points to get the HD version, or just don't care, and while they definitely don't look as good as the HD versions, they aren't nearly as bad as SD digital cable on an HDTV.
Also if you have Netflix, having all those movies available at the touch of a button really makes it a non-issue.
There are some whiny bitches on this shit right here.
Wait, you're complaining about whiny bitches? Jesus.
Don't make me punch you in the cunt, Error.
Shit I've got a cunt? Man I've been going about this ALLLL wrong.
There's a free Gears picture pack and theme on the marketplace (as well as a bunch of E3 trailers) on the Marketplace.
Who cares if its in SD? It'll stream faster. The fact that you'll have hundreds of movies in front of you that you don't need to wait for in the mail is awesome
I care if it's SD.
Good for you. HD movies take too long to download on XBLVM, cost extra, and eat lots of hard drive space, I'm used to SD and I'm fine with it
Huge library of movies you can play on your TV = win
I only have a standard definition TV, so this is going to be solid for me. I'll be able to appreciate this service in all of it's 480p glory.
Subsequently, what's the cheapest plan that Netflix offers that includes the streaming movies? Does the 5.99 single movie at a time include it?
http://www.netflix.com/ChooseAPlan
The cheapest is 4.99, but it says only 2 hours instantly on your PC. I'm guessing during a month. The $8.99 has unlimited hours for PC and 1 DVD at a time but no limit during the month. $8.99 plan seems where it's at to me.
Yeah, $8.99 isn't bad at all for unlimited streaming (and apparently yields about 8 actual rentals a month if you're quick on the turnaround with the mail service). Not that it applies to me, but does the $8.99 plan include BD rentals as well? (I tried checking, but I'm at work, and the proxy websites aren't displaying that page correctly)
You told me while we were playing Burnout. I think you wanted to see my sad face while you ran into me over and over with the SUV.
"Why don't you have an xbox live vision?" "I'm not spending money on that" "You can plug any camera in"
Maybe you were drunk... its ok.
also: is THE INTERNET fast enough for streaming HD content yet?
I think if you let it buffer and download for 20 minutes or so, you would be able to watch the whole thing without having to buffer again.
But I couldn't stream HD content from Stage6 when it was up unless I let it download a portion first, and I've got a pretty clean 6mb connection, which is on the faster spectrum of broadband users.
Here's some mockups from the devs of the dash showing what it would look like with a theme applied, and few samples of the new marketplace interface:
http://gamerscoreblog.com/team/archi...16/560009.aspx
So basically it seems to me like you can use any of your old themes since they're really just a bunch of wallpapers. I like the new dash, it's way cleaner than the old one and it looks like bumping up your resolution will actually have an effect on the size of icons and such.
The themes in the lower 2 pics look fine, but I don't like how it is a background wall in the first one.
The ones in the lower ones probably aren't themes, they're backgrounds that layover when you go to a game's info page (like a lot of stuff in the video marketplace).
lol. There's no way it's going to actually release like that. Personally I think it's great since it would block out most of the advertisements and shit that come with free themes; of course though, that's also why I don't think it will be like that when the update comes out.
Well for those of us that like seeing non-pixelated crap on large televisions and don't have issues with hard drive space, it'd be nice to have the option.
Just because you either:
a) like watching movies on your standard def 19" TV,
or
b) enjoy viewing your movies on screens that appear to have a layer of Vasoline applied,
doesn't mean we all should put up with shitty SD content.
I presume that, as usual, all this cool video stuff don't be available anywhere but the US. You'd really think they'd try to cater to a worldwide audience, but nooooooo. Apparently MS doesn't like expanding markets.
Being able to access all of (or most of) the current blade content in-game sounds sexy.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3258/...1ddcd08b48.jpg
I don't care how complex it is, I'm still going to complain when the US gets stuff that we don't.
The company that manages to sort it out will win the worldwide market.
GET OFF OF AMERICA'S INTERNET!
There are only so many pipes available, we need each and every one.
The videos that stream on the Inside Xbox updates look pretty darn nice for SD video. If the Netflix stuff is of that quality, I won't turn my nose up at that.
