Anyone pick up Spectral Force III?
I sure hope not.
No really, I heard it was horrible.
The reviews seem to be mixed. I don't care if it's PS2-era graphics or whatever, but it is turn based strategy which is a dying genre. It seems the critics like it less than the consumers (which is somewhat normal) and the articles I've read really aren't that critical of gameplay.
I like Atlus, too. I want to see companies like them stick around.
Like five of them have came out this year, how is that a dying genre?Quote:
dying genre
I've been eying the orange box and I wanted to know if I buy it if you ass holes are down for any TF2.
If at all possible you're going to want to get Orange Box on PC.
Well, I got the three red rings last night. My game kept freezing up while playing SC4 then the lights came on. How long did it take for you guys to get your 360 back? It says 2-3 weeks on the site, does it really take that long? Also, do you get the same 360 back that you sent in? Mine has a decal on it, should I take it off?
Edit: I guess this is as good a time as any to play Super Mario Galaxy. :)
2 - 3 weeks is the usual time it takes. Could be shorter if you have a good box handy and let them email you the postage paid label and you can just give it to a UPS driver. You usually get a refurbished 360 back (not the one you gave). You may want to take off any decals, stickers, new faceplates, hard drive because you won't get it back.
My third 360 which I thought died is now working again though it does freeze after awhile. I can't do a damn thing until it totally kicks the bucket. Piece of junk!
You are right..not the best word to use.
I as well as everyone I know never got the original 360 sent in back but each refurbished 360 received came with a letter that stated that it was a different unit with all my live arcade licenses transfered over. I should have pointed that out. I guess some do get their own unit back but I still would make sure any faceplates and stuff is not sent in. Who knows what they'll do to them at their repair center.
I don't know if I did or not. I never checked the serial when I got it back, nor did I ever have it written down to compare to anyway. So... maybe?
I got an entirely new system back. Maybe because I'm Canadian.
I wish they would replace them with Jasper chipsets.
I misread that as "Jaguar," which I think would be more awesome.
DO THE MATH!
LAB TOP!
LOL.
Rem: http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest
I can't imagine it not being dead on 360 at this point. I have both the 360 and PC versions and you should really play it on PC if your lab top can run it.
Also, I've had to get my 360 repaired twice and both have been refurb units. I kind of prefer it this way since it's faster than repairing my original console. However, I think that you can request to have them send back your original console.
Lots of us. STEAM will tell you when we're online in the game.
We should make a time over the weekend again for some games. I'm free all weekend, so whatever :)
I stopped playing TF2 when I got my 360 back but yeah there are plenty of TNLers that would play. PC/GFW thread imo.
Good news: a gamepad with a redesigned d-pad is coming. Bad news: "However, the new pad is "a limited edition promotional item that is only available in Europe, Asia and Latin America while supplies last", which is likely to upset fans who feel the d-pad needs full-time replacement rather than a one-off patch for PES."
So I just picked up a system (again) today. I have a 24" Westinghouse I use for my PC (which is right now DVI--->HDMI) and it looks great. Connected the 360 to it via component and it looks like ass in all resolutions. Real blurry and washed out. Is that because of the component (perhaps my monitor doesn't handle the res well over that cord)? I have a spare VGA port on the monitor but for the time being need to use the speakers on it as well so HDMI would seem to be the best choice (I'd have to get a switcher sometime later). You guys think the component is the problem? Wouldn't the VGA cable transmit the sound to the monitor speakers as well?
get a vga cable, it should come with a Y adapter so you can hook the thing up to the speaker in port on the monitor (or, since you say you're using it on your pc, you can do like I do and rig your pc up as a cheapo amplifier...) if it doesn't come with the proper cable, a rca/stereo 3.5mm cable can be found at any halfway-decent music store and/or radio shack for cents on the dollar
edit: re Dyne
CKA, no speaker port that I can see. Seems to be handled through the input jacks.
*edit* nm......I have a green hole (looks like a headphone jack). Never noticed that before.
if the monitor has speakers, then it has an audio in jack (which is likely 3.5mm) because it doesn't really make sense to have speakers you can't access (without hdmi) :bang:
here's a quick diagram of how I have my system set up, you can substitute speakers for a 3.5mm extension cable that goes into the monitors audio in jack for your audio needs and it should work just fine
edit 2: this setup has the bonus of letting me control the 360s volume via my pc
Yeah had a durrr moment there. So is it normal to have component make it look like shit?
VGA looks perfectly fine, so I'd assume it's the component cables.
That pad better come out here. I'm sure enough people will make a big stink about it enough for MS to notice.
Dyne I've had my 360 hooked up with VGA and Component, both looked awesome.
Oh, and this. Reports are also in that the new 60 giggers have double capacity ram chips (which means half as many) and are all mounted on top of the motherboards (current design had half mounted top, half underside). Might reduce heat even more.
http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/20/so...b-299-elite-3/
It appears that two of the Xbox 360 SKUs will receive a $50 price drop by the week of Sept. 7, making the 60GB model $299 and the Elite $399 -- we've yet to hear any change on the $279 Arcade meanwhile, the Arcade will drop $80 to $199. A few of our retail contacts, some of whom have given us good intel in the past -- and who all work for separate corporations -- have sent us identical information regarding a price drop. Evidence of the Elite and Arcade price cut can be found in the gallery below featuring images sent us from the Sept. 7 Radio Shack flyer.
Update: Oh mercy, it's been a long day. The Arcade is marked as $199 in the flyer as well (under the TV, to the left). Thanks, Strike Man.
Price drop long overdue.
My warranty was running out earlier this month and my disc drive was giving me problems, so I went online and got a box sent to me. Got a refurb with a Lite-On disc drive (and possibly the Opus motherboard) sent really quickly after my system got to their warehouse. They extended my warranty to November also, so that's good. :)
Good, now I can finally use those 20 gig hard drives I picked up for $15 bucks at Sears a couple of years ago. Arcade pack, here I come!
From 1up:Ugh. I'm glad I wasn't gonna buy that game anyway. This is one trend that needs to be nipped in the bud.Quote:
Tales of Vesperia DLC Will Let You Buy Levels, Gold, and Skills
For a few Microsoft points, players can opt out of the usual grinding.
By Jonathan Fincher, 08/22/2008
http://media.1up.com/media?id=3601235&type=lg
Some RPGs allow you to get a leg up by doling out some extra cash for special weapons and items. For Tales of Vesperia, though, Namco Bandai has just decided to cut through all that and just let players outright buy levels for their character (via Kotaku).
That's right, at least in Japan it appears from screenshots that Tales of Vesperia is getting DLC that will offer players the chance to exchange their Microsoft points for level boosts, as well as gold and skills. "Items" available for purchase will include:
* LV Up +10 (1) 300 Microsoft Points
* LV Up +5 (1) 200 Microsoft Points
* 300,000 Gold (1) 300 Microsoft Points
* Skill sets 80 Microsoft Points
* HP Recovery Cuisine Recipe Set 100 Microsoft Points
I could kind of understand this sort of thing for an MMO where you're pitted against other players who may spend a whole lot more time on a game than you, but for an offline RPG? Of course, Tales of Vesperia has also been driving a huge rise in Xbox 360 sales in Japan, so Namco Bandai is probably still going to make oodles of cash off of this.
Why? You don't have to buy that, it's only if you're lazy as fuck all. I think it's brilliant of Namco actually.
Because if we give them an inch, they'll take a mile - before you know it, games will be designed around the expectation that the typical player do this. Want the next cool move for Dante? Fork over or grind fifteen missions.
What do you expect from Namco? They're the ones who tried to sell Beautiful Katamari levels on XBLM that were already included on the disc, remember.
That was bullshit.
This I have no problem with.
sand your d-pad you retards. its the EASIEST THING I HAVE EVER DONE.
then you don't have to bitch and cry like little girls anymore. Fuck!
Shut the fuck up.
Namco is also the same company that has been rehashing the same arcade game compilation for years. What do you expect?
This is actually not a bad thing, imo. Having to grind for levels and gold in DQ 8 was a pain, and having the option to just buy some gold and skills will save a lot of time.
I send my 360 in last Tuesday and they have already received it, fixed it and sent it back to me. I should get it sometime next week. Awesome!
Quick question on the 3 year warranty. I just registered my system and it says it's under warranty on xbox.com for only one year. I'm assuming that's the normal coverage and it never actually says three because that's just for the RRoD?
I used a very small flat head.
note: you can sand the outside of the d-pad WITHOUT taking apart your controller, or scrape the plastic off with a knife. Stop being retarded.
I'm more interested in the hack that takes the innards of a 360 controller and puts them in a PS3 controller. God I hate that PS3 controller.
Uh, then wouldn't you want the innards of a PS3 controller inside a 360 controller? :p
no you fuck off.
Figured I'd put this here since certain members would have gushing vaginas and scream "WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH XBL!?"
http://kotaku.com/5041292/xbox-360-f...ut-in-november
-RPG-TV got a briefing last week on the Xbox Live Experience and was told that the Fall dashboard update would be hitting in November, i.e. this fall. Makes sense to me. Before I start sounding too glib, while the fall update has routinely landed in November, an update of this size could have theoretically been pushed back to later in the year. So it is nice to have Microsoft telling some on the record that we can expect our sexy new look and deeper features in three months or so. Preview of New Xbox Experience + LIPS [RPG-TV]-
Stop crying because you put something in the wrong thread and got called on it.
Seriously, it's nice you finally figured out the correct thread to put something in.
Lookit that. The b-squad captain following up a jab from a TNL a-lister. No suprise there.
Sometimes it appears you hang from his nuts harder than anyone else on TNL.
Yet you imitate everything he says.
Hey, assholes, shut the fuck up.
Info here.
Summary: It's been rumored for awhile after the "clearance" tactic of the 20gig Pro SKU awhile ago. That SKU is being replaced by a 60gig harddrive Pro edition.
So if the new leaks turn out true, next week we'll see;
Arcade: $200
Pro 60 gig: $300
Elite 120 gig: $400
Long time coming and much needed.
Is the price of the stand-alone 120-gig harddrive finally dropping too? Rock Band songs, XBLA games and retail games with obnoxiously large DLC expansions (Oblivion, Samurai Warriors 2) have just about consumed my lowly 20 gigs - my free space after wiping videos and demos now stands at a measly 1.2 gigs.
Lol. Now why would they do such a thing?
I don't recall the prices, but they are.
Yeah, a slight decrease. Still too expensive. I think the 60 gig is going to be $100. Don't remember exactly.
Pure demo up on Marketplace. 1.3 gigs.
Tenchu coming to Live Arcade? I seen a new achievement list for it here http://www.xbox360achievements.org/g.../achievements/
Hopefully this is true because Tenchu 1 kicked ass. An update with better graphics would be really nice. Sure it plays like ass now, but I'd still buy a HD version!
Yeah, I heard about that a few days ago but no one seems to know what it is.
There's no 25-hit combos in Tenchu as far as we've known it, though. It sounds like it might be a fighting game or beat-em-up or something.
Who cares. Nothing good worth getting. Give me some decent XBLA gmaes I was too cheep to buy at full price.
Exactly. All that is crap.
Def Leppard rocks your fucking face.
I can go to any torrent site and download them for free. Fake guitar games do nothing for me.
$10 off Shivering Isles is pretty good, but I imagine everyone who wanted it got it when it came out.
i still dont have it :x
Rumor: New Xbox Experience to launch September 25th
http://www.maxconsole.net/assets/gfx/dot_clear.gif
According to a big internet rumor that is floating around, the new Xbox Experience will launch on September 25th 7PM EST. G4 will cover the launch of the update and there will be a dozen demos after the launch and some previews of the GTA IV DLC. Amongst other things, MS will reportedly reveal 12 Xbox 360 exclusive games that are being worked on.
You'll be able to stream G4 coverage before it launches, even though the current dashboard has never done anything like that? Sirius partnership? Music store?
So extremely fake.
I bet 6 of the exclusives are fps games
Would be nice if this was all true, but sadly it all sounds too good to be true. Would love 6 free original xbox titles, but I don't see that happening.
