This is just hilarious beyond words.
So Natal doesn't like black people, or is it driving (HAHA!) home the point that blacks can't drive?
Tell them to smile imo.
ON SNAP!
I don't know enough about the technology to know if those problems are real but I really wish people would stop saying "African-American". It sounds especially stupid when applied to someone from Canada like N'Gai Croal.
No, it's equally stupid everywhere.
What are we supposed to say, Black? That's identifying the obvious and no one wants to do that.
Reposting it here, but if anyone has an extra cable that goes from the power block the back of the 360 I'd like to buy one instead of buying a whole new brick.
Yes, black. If you say anything else, you are a politically correct douchebag, period.
I don't even think African-American is politically correct, or that it should be. You're either American or not as standoffish as that comes off.
I agree, which is why the race is black. Your statement is the exact opposite of political correctness though, which is one of the most hideous things this country has dealt with since the hippies.
Blax
Black people can't afford natal anyway.
Hippies weren't all bad. They were pioneers in rock music and early video games. I think the hippie era, as goofy as it was, was necessary to take us out of that "Leave it to Beaver" era prudeness.Quote:

I think someone mentioned having this happen to them already, but Microoft isn't sending out coffins anymore. The best part is that the lying assholes are claiming it is to "expedite the repair process". I'm sure it has nothing to do with minimizing their well earned support costs...
Yeah, I gotta get a repair order for the dude I sold my oldbox to and now I won't even get a box to ship it in. I'll tell him he has to provide a box.
Well, you're a nicer guy than most. I tried contacting the dude I bought my zboz from to see if he'd supply me with his warranty info, and I got shafted big time. I was lucky that the zbox CSR didn't care and transfered the unit into my name anyway (LOL STOLEN XBOZ!1!)
Yes, I understand that, but I also understand that it has nothing to do with their change. They are cutting the cost of their mistake.
They still supply the return shipping label. Learn to read.
And where does it say specifically from MS themselves that it's not a cost cutting procedure? Only mentioning that it saves repair time isn't the same as "we are in no way discontinuing this practice to save money." I don't see how they're hiding their intentions from anybody.
I also don't remember SONY doing people any favors when a shit ton of PS 1's died.
I'll send mine in a box using human shit as a cushion.
When you comment on something and don't tell the whole story, you hide something. It's why when you go under oath they make you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.[/quote]
A. The PS1 failure rate paled in comparison to the 360 failure rate by all accounts.Quote:

B. Why are you defending incompetence in 200X by bringing up incompetence in 199X?
Sorry but even with my love of the 360 it's still shit.
ugh when the hell does my box arrive at ms it's already been too long
I didn't get a coffin when my 360 died. I put it in a box, tossed in some spare padding, and didn't care. There's got to be something else worth getting upset about than this non-issue.
James
That's debatable, but one could make the case that gamers put up with the shitty build quality of the 360 because the PS1 and PS2 got them used to shitty hardware that breaks itself. It's sort of funny; Sony finally builds a piece of hardware that doesn't commit suicide and nobody wants to play it.
Not at $500 I don't.
Yeah, I've had to do that twice, and pay shipping both times! That's not the issue though. It's the fact that I have to have extra flat rate priority mail boxes at home for when it happens again. :(
At least MS received my console. Xbox.com says it's currently undergoing repair.
Sony didn't do a god damn thing when 75% of the 1st gen PS1s decided they liked to be upside down to read correctly. 92 days old? Fuck you. It took them 3 generations of equipment to make something that wasn't a pile of dogshit, and they damn new one is so expensive they don't make jack shit off it.
At least MS is stepping up to do something about thier shitty hardware, Melf has a legitimate gripe because of the whole shipping issues with PR, but complaining they don't provide a box? Jesus, do people live in some world where cardboard is worth more than gold?
I don't appreciate when companies insult my intelligence. If they want to make a change, fine. They don't have a responsibility to defend it to anyone but their shareholders. BUT, in that case, they should STFU. It's when they choose to comment and then either outright lie Nintendo-style (Punch-Out!! filling the disc or NSMB using all of the Wii power and preventing any online play) or give the reason they think people want to hear while withholding the real one, then I call BS. And I don't discriminate in that area. Sony just happens to have been more honest recently, although Kaz Hirai is always dangerous in this area.
I'm not going to defend the system's reliability (although there is documentation pointing to newer models being within acceptable reliability), but Mr. Harai is on record as saying Sony intentionally made the hardware labyrinthine because they didn't want companies to tap out its 'power' from the outset. That's the worst spin I have ever heard...far worse than this.
I don't think you're appreciating the technical hurdles involved here. As Nintendo mentioned in their press conference, this is the world's first 4-dimensional game; something Miyamoto has been working toward for 15 years. Unfortunately, the internet is still three dimensional, and thus coding online play for NSMB would be next to impossible.
All companies lie! News at 11.
LIAR! commericials and stupid graphics at 11:00. News doesn't come until 11:05!
You can get news now. try cnn.com
CNN doesn't know what news is.
OMG CONSPIRACY THEORIES!!!
One thing that always cracks me up every time I go to E3 is that any PR person standing next to a game will just say whatever they think you want to hear. They just lie, it's hilarious. "So you're basically saying that with the power of the Unreal Engine I can actually use this game as a hoverboard and fly around the room?" "Oh yeah, we're working hard to get that feature in."
Here, check this out. They guy (because he's retarded) asks if this shitty Genesis clone is going to have classic Genesis games with enhanced 64 bit graphics on them and the guy just blatantly lies and says yes.
They just can't help it. They're compulsive liars.
Lies sign checks.
The Genesis is 32-bit! Holy shit!
Haven't we already established that game journalists don't know shit?
Look at his hair. He looks like a Square character for Christ's sake.
hooray my box finally arrived at the repair center. 1 month to go or so?
month? turnaround for my repair was about a week and a half from filing the claim online to receiving my replacement
shit then i guess the worst of it is over? I'll be away on vacation from the 17th to the 22nd, maybe I'll get it back soon after.
probably assuming the repair center you sent it to doesn't have a huge backlog and is relatively near you (they'll probably just throw a new one in a box monday and send it off on the 3-4 day express)
..it says repair completed already and shipped. Wow.
Because they just sent you someone else's AIDs-infested system.
as long as it works i don't care
Oh, I'm sure the AIDS works just fine.
I got mine back from the repair center, and it works...but it still stutters at the guide screen, so I assume it'll break down JUST after the three year warranty is up.
I mean they confirmed that they got it yesterday. I assume I am getting a new/used/repaired one they had lying around. How do I tell if I got my same box back? Fuck if I can remember the serial number.
the serial # is under the flap that hides the usb ports on the front, your old one should be in the service.xbox.com records so just compare it to that
p. sure they just sent you a whole new thing though, it'll come with a sheet of instructions on how to reapply your licensed content to your new console
Even if you did, why would it matter?
Every occupation has people that aren't very good.
Unless that's you in the picture
edit: oh I suck...he didn't say some ;p Some=game according to my brain
I have all three of my zboz boxes. My first, the Elite I bought because I wanted a 120 GB HD and I didn't want to wait to get my other one back and my JPN one
I want to throw them away too
Because people actually play games on it? They prefer the controller, the voice communication, the fact that every game on it runs as well or better than on PS3?
I know that's why I prefer mine. And maybe they don't play PC games much? Hell, since I got mine I've had to work around problems for every other game.
Anyway, as far as the guide goes...how much stuff do you have on your hard drive?
Dude, let's not even make controllers a factor with all the adapters and arcade sticks out there netted against the proprietary bullshit MS makes you pay a premium for.
The online shit is better done on a PC anyway. The 360 is great for it's Netflix compatibility, otherwise it's a poor man's malfunctioning PC.
Awesome. Go play that then. Or that HOTD game that you talk so highly of that stutters all the time and soft locks every other level . You really know quality when you see it.
He caveated that it is the best offline console. I can't argue but I really love gaming with TNL and IRL friends so with XBL/360, it is a no brainer (and superior controller).
NO BUT YOU SHOULD BE PLAYING RE5 ON P
oh wait I mean YOU SHOULD BE PLAYING RED F
oh wait...shit.
But it's a self-fulfilling prophecy, no? As long as TNL accepts this malfunction console + proprietary premium bullshit, the online community will be there. If and when TNL no longer does, that online community will shift to the PC or PS3. The 360 does not have a monopoly on this precious online community for any longer than the users allow it to.
And the superior controller is certainly a subjective matter as I'd rather have the DS3.
I already know my taste is superior to yours. Mine is based on replay value and the word you criticize so much: fun. When you underrate or downplay or ridicule "fun" in favor of online leaderboards, achievements, or whatever Mickey Mouse bullshit you use to rationalize, there is no argument to be made. You've already lost focus of why videogames should be played.
Now a Jasper J360 is a fine purchase because of the shooters. I will go along with this.
No it won't because the online community on PS3 sucks, TNL or no.
I am glad you think those things I mentioned (stuttering constantly and soft locking) are fun. Not to me.
If online community is such a dealbreaker for you then the 360 should be out of the conversation entirely because it would be PC dominated.
Cool, buy everyone a PC then. Tell publishers to put the PC versions out day and date with the console versions and make sure they run with everyone's setup. Problem solved. I'd be fine with that.
These circle jerk arguments never get anywhere. I prefer the 360 for MP/3rd party games and use the PS3 for exclusives and PS2 library and Bluray/hidef movies. Both are great and get plenty of use.
HOTD is certainly flawed. But what will I play on 360 that I can't play on the PC or PS3 that is worthwhile? I can only name Gears 1, 2, and PGR4.
Joust is passionate about gaming and I respect that. I respect his opinion as well. I don't always agree with it, but that's irrelevant when it comes to discussion, nor should agreement be a prerequisite to having a discussion.
I am buying all (most) my MP stuff on PC now. But I can't say that PC gaming is so much better when I can't play new releases on it until the consoles have it for 3 to 6 months. And if it's PS3 vs 360, I am going to take the 360 every time right now. I have had my system break once. Yea, it sucked. But when my PS3 goes down (and they don't fix it for free), what would I do? They'll be both broken once and now I'm back at square one.
And hell, PC ports are probably only better 60% of the time. I know I heard some 99% or something, but that isn't true at all. Whether you think the game is worth it or not isn't really the point. I bought SC Double Agent the other day. It sucks ass compared to the 360 version (thankfully I paid 5 dollars for it). It doesn't even look as good, work well with my gamepad (which I do want to use), etc. That's not the norm, but it isn't the exception to the rule. Some publishers just have sucky PC ports.
I'd love nothing more than PC to dominate. I played nothing but PC (well, almost nothing) from 94 to 01. But damn. There are some messed up ports and exclusives. It gets games late. There's no standard. This game works better with an ATi card and this game works better with an nVidia card. This game doesn't use the other cores on the CPU and this one won't run with EAX on if I have a non-Creative sound card. This one I have to turn on Shader Model 3 instead of 4. Video/Sound card politics are wayyyy worse than any console politics. It's not some utopia just because someone else's favorite game works. No, Valve and id's games...THOSE are the exception to the rule. It is the wild west and that is reason numero uno as to why people play consoles. And hell, I know what I am doing. But like I said, I have had to find some workaround for like half of the games I have tried since I bought this. I love it, but even though it's about 10x more powerful than my PS3 or 360, there are thing that it can't touch.
I love my Jasper J360 and would completely understand it if people went for that model, until proven otherwise. It's when they go through this numerous console bullshit that I just have to assume they're either masochistic or stupid or both.
I'm not a PC gamer but will be one in the near future. I own every console so I am aware of the pros and cons of each. There is just a disturbing effort to ignore or downplay the harm being done to consumers in order to support a console that should be serving us far better than it has in return for what is clearly being offered elsewhere in what is at the least a comparable if not superior format.
I'll stop derailing this thread now.
So, am I crazy, or has the "join player" option been removed from the user interface? I remember I used to be able to look at my friends list and hit X (I think it was) under certain conditions where I could jump into a game with a friend. Now, I have to go through the whole "make a party" system first, and then the option still doesn't seem to be around.
Am I crazy, or is this option indeed gone under the NXE?
I know it has its own thread, but like Cowdisease said 1 v 100 is the 360's killer app.
PC ports are far better now than they were even three years ago. Most everyone adds in compatibility with a 360 controller too. Pieces of shit like Saint's Row 2 aren't nearly as common anymore.
(By the way, gamepad issues with older games can be fixed for a 360 controller if you use custom drivers. I~ love ~
