You can get the disc version of most of that trash for about the same or less.

I was curious about that so I went to Gamestop.com today to check prices. Turns out a lot of those games are 5 bucks or less on disc (used obviously).

Holy shit, Steel Battalion is getting absolutely TRASHED in the reviews. It will be interesting to see how this pans out, Microsoft were really backing it to prove the Kinect is not an $150 dance and fruit slicing peripheral.

Has there been ONE good non-Wii-ish game for Kinect? Child of Eden?

Thats too bad. Amazon has a deal where if you buy the kinect for $140 you get Steel Battalion free.

Child of Eden is pretty awesome, but it's better with a controller.

Crimson Dragon was grounded as well, it was supposed to launch last week but they're letting it cook a little while longer. I needs to cook until regular controls get placed into it, because controlling the dragon by leaning left, right, forward, and backwards was THE WORST.

The Steel Battalion demo was terrible. Bad concept too, I was always trying to figure out where to put the controller when i had to stand up from my comfy couch, then drop back down to do whatever, then move my hand 5 times to get the game to recognize the command. In general it wasn't very well thought out. And that was just the damned demo.

I enjoy sports games on Kinect and Raving Rabbids.

The list Major Nelson posted had Prince of Persia at $3.99 which I assumed was the cel shaded one, but when I went online today it was Forgotten Sands and it was $4.99.

I still need to play that one and had assumed the same thing, thanks!

So Xbox Rewards is going to start factoring in achievement points "this Autumn."

I hope this gives us another way to earn free Microsoft points.

For the last two days I could only get 10 points a day.

Your points may have been reset temporarily. I noticed the system has been a bit glitchy since June started. You sometimes lose points randomly.

But if you keep searching and clicking on some of other free point links, the points you had originally eventually come back.

Edge gave Steel Battalion a 6. If you would have asked me to estimate their score based on what other publications gave it, I would have picked a number between -10 and -20.

Makes sense to me - when I reviewed the 360 version, I thought that it would control better since things were fine-ish, but the lack of 1:1 control hurt it, and would be possible with the Move.

It seems that they are going to allow some sort of customization for the dashboard so that you can "pin" entries on the home section. That's probably the feature I would like to have the most. Lets see how that turns out.

I find it hilarious that the makers of INTERNET EXPLORER are the last to have a browser on their system.. Even Nintendo knew to put that shit on a console. Oh well, in all honesty I'll never use it since I have a PC hooked up to my TV anyway.

360 is going to finally have a web browser now? Do you need a Gold subscription to use it?

Wait, do you guys actually use the web browser on your consoles? I thought we all realized how shitty that was back on the Dreamcast.

I mean, I tried using the PS3 one a few times to look up and play some YouTube videos but it quickly proved itself to be the most worthless and kind of sad attempt at a feature that the system had.

Seriously asking though. The 360's YouTube app is a million times better than watching on the PS3, but you need a Gold subscription to use it. Sometimes I like to check Sega-16 and TNL quick on my PS3 before playing, and it would be cool to be able to do the same on the 360.

Mech: They updated the player, so it's slightly less shitty now. The 360 app is still better though.

I use Tapatalk for that. It's faster and easier for me.

I noticed I had an XBLA message from some random guy just saying, "I need a bathroom to save." Then I remembered my girl had been playing Dead Rising 2.

So the beta already started, posting from the 360. it's not horrible, but I probably won't use it much.

This beta is the fastest to close and start. They must plan on releasing it relatively soon. I want to customize my home screen :(

As long as they dont get rid of the virtual scratch n win games, I'm good.

Pinning to the home screen is just pinning to a spot on the home screen called "My Pins". Not a bad addition, but not as good as I thought.

Also, the dash is fast again!

Maybe next-gen, they'll have Xbox Live Platinum where you only get one ad per page.

It doesn't bug me as much as it seems to bug you guys. I go to the aps I want, I ignore the rest.

I just don't like paying for the service and being subjected to tons of ads. I was fine with the dash when it was just a few squares, but it's kind of crossed a line IMO. It just gets worse with every update.

I get this, but really it's ads for stuff on the service already, aside from the odd ass State Farm or Summer Movie X in the bottom corner.

Well, in those cases, I think it's more of an issue of moderation. If I see a grid with, say, 10 boxes and 8 of them are ads (including the most prominent ones), it's just annoying.

I'm not a fan of how everything must be double confirmed now. Like with Netflix, you click on the icon to watch it, and that used to just load the program. Perfect, that's what was intended. Now, it loads a second page where you can Play Now (lets play the Netflix app!), rate it, or something else. If I go to this after exiting a game (disc or arcade), it will just sit there and pretend it's loading the Play Now screen, but will never show up. I'll have to restart the system after a minute and then wait and wait while it loads all the options again. Youtube is similar. Game Marketplace is buried in several layers of menus, and has lots of extra menus and sections to make finding that one thing you want a little harder. It's all just mucked up, slowed down, and cumbersome.

If you go to "My Apps" then NetFlix etc will load right away... so while it is still an extra menu and doesn't really help you, there is an option. In all honesty I use my PS3 now for NetFlix and Hulu since their apps are so much better than the Kinect crap that MS has now. I only use my Xbox for HBO Go since it isn't on PS3.

I'm stumped here. I've been trying to update all of my games, but I keep running into problems.
All of my save games are on an offline account, since I don't have XBL Gold and rarely have my 360 connected to the internet. I have a live account through GFWL, which I use to connect and download updates, but it seems like most updates are tied to the save files, so even when I download them, they aren't retained.
I've gotten around this by signing into live, starting the game, downloading the update, and then signing in with my offline account and saving somehow. Unfortunately, this only works for some games.

I've tried making my offline account into a silver account, but I can't do that without getting a new email address, and it also doesn't seem like I can merge the online and offline accounts.
Having both accounts signed in simultaneously doesn't work either, since both the save file and the internet connection rely on the profile signed in by player 1.

Forza Horizon demo

Forza Horizon is... I don't know. The graphics are pretty, but MS are a bunch of liars when they say this is Colorado. It's Colorado like Vice City is California- just a map with some stylings and broad representation. TDU raised the bar on that front and FH doesn't come close. The whole "Horizon Festival" construct is super tacky, it's like they got every terrible song from commercials these days, including the one from Doritos Locos.

The dirt race was fun (but stuck with too-easy AI from what I can tell) but I'm not sure how much fun the free roaming will be. The cockpit view seems okay.

Add on all the DLC MS are peddling and this looks like a solid $20 purchase.

Vice City is Miami, so that's pretty far off. ;)

That's what I meant to write but it was late.

Point is, this isn't Colorado, it's a general, broad, impersonation of it. Which is fine, but MS has been talking like this is Colorado like TDU is Oahu, or at least to scale. It's a lie.

Colorado is such a great choice for an open-world game because it has those amazing drives through the Rockies, but they set the demo in a flat, farm area like eastern CO/western KS. Boring.

I liked the demo, but with a Criterion game hitting at basically the same time...

I fucking hate open world racing games.

I always thought it was a good idea. I wanted to like Test Drive Unlimited, but I just couldn't get into it.
I just started playing Burnout Paradise recently, and I like it so far.

Burnout Paradise was great. Would have been better without the time wasting open world shit. Racing games are for RACING!

Outrun 2006 is still my favourite.

While I appreciated Dirt 2 on a technical level, I could never like and enjoy playing it, and I hated the incredibly annoying pro racer interface/implementation in its world tour mode. Forza Horizon, from the demo at least, seems quite similar but solves some of those issues as a more palatable experience.

I liked it for the most part, as I have previous Forza demos, although my tastes run more along loving how the cars handle in NFS Hot Pursuit instead.

I think that Forza game is going to be really good. The demo is really cool and you can tell that when you get some bad ass cars it'll be awesome
