If they fixed matchmaking to where you could find a match more than once every 40 minutes, I'd be willing to hop back on. Cheevos seem fairly simple to get.

It takes so long wtf.
I'll give happy wars a try. Checking it out now if anyone wants to play.
Unless Happy Wars has been completely retooled from the beta that game is hot garbage. Awful presentation, boring gameplay, and some of the worst matchmaking on XBL.
FWIW Tekken has great netcode and matchmaking.
Swing and a miss on that troll attempt.
Happy Wars plays fine once you actually get into a game. I don't see any lag even with 20 or so players. It's just getting into a game that's a bitch.
I understand you're being sarcastic, but what you say is true. Fucking relax, the game is going to fucking outer space and back. Go get a beverage or surf the internet or something.
It's probably around the amount of time one waits between multiplayer Tekken matches.
Last night while exploring the Borderlands with Truck my system (launch slim unit) locked up mid game and game me some error about not being able to read the game disc. When I reset my system all I'd get was a frozen screen after the xbox logo loads and a single red dot on the power button.
After some googling and trial and error I find that my system is totally fine but my hard drive is dead. It's making those weird clicking noises a computer HD will make when it's dead or about dead. And the system will only boot up when I take it completely out.
Luckily my most important saves (all five Borderlands 2 characters) and my profile are on a thumb drive. But everything else is gone :(
Anyone know where to get a good deal on a replacement drive?
Sucks to hear. I've got a 250GB HD I've been meaning to sell for some time now, but it's for the original/phat 360.
It's easy to swap the drive from one casing into another, but I think you might need a torx bit or something for it. That's what I did with mine.
I guess Best Buy is gonna have the 320GB hard drive on sale for $20 off starting Sunday (and it still comes with Lego Star Wars III pre-installed). That's probably what I'm gonna go with. I've heard nothing good about the cheaper 3rd party drives so I'll probably stay away from those.
[edit]
And now I find out that my system has zero internal storage and can't access my cloud storage without system memory or a hard drive installed. Apparently having a formatted USB drive is not good enough.
Micro$oft.
You mean a 320GB HDD for $110 isn't a deal?
As long as their trade prices don't take a drastic drop by Sunday when the 100% boost kicks in I can get about $90 in credit for some games I've got about $40 into.
That's still overpaying for a 320GB HDD, although that may be skewed to when they are on sale.
It is what it is. That's what I've got to pay for an official 360 drive.
It'd be nice if I could just toss the thing out and go PC only but I really enjoy playing games with my friends.
You'll have an opportunity later this year to prevent them from making the same mistake again.
You talk to Truck about playing something that isn't a Xbox. Good luck, logic has no place in his way of thinking.
This time around I'll buy whatever system most of my friends do to play with them and I'll keep everything else on the PC.
He had a PS2 and played it a lot but only played online on the original xbox. Then he bought the 360 when it came out and has called the PS3 a piece of shit ever since it was released. He owns one though, but only uses it to play blu rays and occasional PS2/PS1 games. I even gave him access to my PS+ account and he never even tired to use it. Hell, when the 360 Netflix app turned to shit with the kinect update he even avoided using the PS3's superior app because he'd have to turn on "that piece of shit" more often.
I've tried to argue with him but it all comes back to "the ps3 sucks" in his mind. Although Elder Scrolls online is making him seriously consider a gaming PC, maybe that will be his gateway drug/
There's always a gateway. It's unfortunate that all of the evidence to the contrary hasn't swayed him from his ~4 years outdated opinion of the current generation though.
Gotta say that Kinect ruining the 360 Netflix UI pushed me to the PS3 more than any game ever did.
"xbox pause."
"xbox play."
"xbox next."
That's all they needed to add to it.
<3 Dumptruck.
You don't have to imagine. I could post a video for you...
It's got a long god damned finger.
Well, my second 360 (a slim) shit the bed after less than 6 months of service in a well-ventilated, air conditioned environment. I got to play Alan Wake, Fable II, Saints Row 3, and half of Mass Effect 3.
Microsoft is fucking awful. I want a DeLorean fitted with a flux capacitor so I can tell myself to just buy the overpriced SpiderStation.
The PS3 one used to be better too. There was an incredible beta UI that they were using for my account and the final version kind of sucks in comparison.
I'd use the PS3 one if the stupid audio didn't lag behind the video so often. 360 doesn't have this problem for me.
Confirmed. I miss Xbox 1 Microsoft.
One of the major motivators for me as it relates to a next gen Xbox purchase is whether or not my XBLA games will carry over.
Youtube on XBOX has laggy audio for me, but only there. My TV/PS3/WDTV don't have that issue.
Audio Lag gives me the rage of 1000 suns.
Is there really any difference between XBLA and retail releases these days? Early shit that was just like an arcade emu or a tiny score attack game I could see, but something fairly recent like Bastion or Outland may as well be retail games. I'm going to say that no, they won't. I'm ok with that since I don't plan on buying any of the new consoles for a couple of years anyway.
I think he's just talking about DD stuff in general. There's no '% of the system used' distinction between the two.
The cloud only working with a hdd/the arcade's flash memory thing is kind of annoying; I set up my original xbox360 fatty upstairs that has a broken HDD connector, meaning I can get it to turn on 50% of the time if I push down on the HDD when I start it up. If cloud worked with USB, I could have just disconnect the hdd, thrown it away and use a 16gb USB instead.
Isn't it rumored that Sony's next console wont have BC with any previous consoles? Not sure if that would follow with their DD games. It would be pretty crazy if downloadable "arcade" games from either system did not work on the new consoles.
My point is that the DD games have evolved to the point where they may as well be full disc console releases. They're not running on emulators or anything; they're utilizing the hardware the same as any other game. You can't differentiate between the two because of the delivery method. Either the next Xbox is full BC with the entire 360 library including disc and DD titles or it's not. I'm saying don't hold your breath.
I guess they could try and bring them over one by one like they did for the Xbox, but that's just a waste of time. I have played 0 Xbox games on my 360.
There's almost no chance either console will have backward capability at all. It's a feature everyone talks about, but no one really cares about when the rubber hits the road. Everyone on TNL bought 360s, which had a ridiculously low BC rate. Clearly it's not a key feature. If you care about cross generational compatibility, buy PC games.
While I agree with you, this time around I bought a LOT more games online than I did on oldbox. I don't want to have to lug out the 360 every time somebody wants to play rock band.
EA will provide the solution for Rockband. They'll release a new version that you have to buy that will then be able to import every song associated with your account. EA is a lot of things, but likely to miss out on an obvious revenue possibility isn't one of them.
The new consoles are a completely different architecture from the old one. The chances of either one being BC (without some add-on or something) is extremely small. Microsoft won't do it, but the Xbox 1 is a better fit for BC than the 360. I'm just saying, don't hold your breath.
You're not pirating if they follow through on the always online rumor.
I meant on my PC. Fuck the console.
Yeah, activation codes + a required Live connection won't eliminate piracy but it'll have a significant effect if Microsoft releases a lot of required firmware updates.
Or I guess they could go the Diablo 3 route where critical game files are stored on the server side which would have an even greater effect. That sort of thing requires a lot of developer effort and infrastructure so I doubt we'll see much of it.
Really though, the point isn't to stamp out 100% of piracy, just to make it annoying enough to not be worth the time for most people.
Hampering legit game owners with requirements on how to play games they've already purchased is the dumbest shit. When I found out I couldn't play SC 2 without an internet connection I pretty much gave up on it. I won't purchase the expansion nor will I buy Diablo or any game with that requirement.
Never, ever, will I support consoles who take that step, either. I know Joe Sixpack won't care and it'll mean my position will have little effect, but fuck it. Maybe enough who believe what I do will exist for publishers to cater to and console manufacturers to sell to.
Speaking of. Anyone want my crazy fancy rock band drum kit? It's pretty sweet, but we are moving somewhere smaller and I won't have the setup for it anymore.
Don't tell me you got that $300 set did you?
Of course I did. Playing on expert is *exactly* like playing real drums. Why wouldn't I?
Yeah, that is pretty awesome of josh to just give it away like that.
Props!
Nothing is free.
I'll give you 60 dollars
I'll give your lady my dick.
She's the one who wants the drumkit. Maybe you can do some dick/drum exchange
I don't have an open relationship. I'll punch her in the face instead if that'll work?
Let me know. Time's a wastin'
Do you have any expensive blenders?
Vitamix 4 Life.
How much are you looking for on that fancy drum kit?
Knowing josh, $300.
A loch of guitar wolfs taint pubes.
+ applicable "once owned by a superstar" tax.
He told me 175 plus shipping.
Yeah, no
I found one on craigslist for 65.

I never even bothered to look at new prices. Eat my butt.
I mentioned this elsewhere, but I guess it's relevant here:
Quote:
My 360 just got all weird and over-clocked itself. It was pretty obvious because I was playing the very slow-paced Civ: Revolution. All of a sudden the game went into hyperdrive. And now Sleeping Dogs is doing the same thing. Is this a thing?
EA isn't involved anymore, and Harmonix themselves have always called the shots anyway.
Well, then you might be fucked. But in either case, it won't be Sony or Microsoft dragging the content forward.
I don't really get why they wouldn't want to keep selling eight years worth of digital content on a new system.
I mean if BC is impossible sure. But if they can it'd be a pretty big deal to be able to say "STICK WITH US YOU KEEP YOUR GAMES" and also "CHECK US OUT OUR MARKETPLACE ISN'T EMPTY"
I'm sure they want to, but it looks like they are moving from PPC to x86. It's not that like that is unheard of (Mac OS!), we'll just have to see.
Yeah MS only has to over come going from PPC to x86 architecture, they MIGHT get something working. I wouldn't expect it to be universal though, and most likely like Xbox BC on the 360, and on a title by title thing. I HIGHLY HIGHLY doubt you'll see BC on PS4. They're going from Nvidia to AMD, and from Cell to x86. The bandwidth between Cell's PPE and the SPUs is going to be really difficult to make up for/emulate. I just don't see it happening.
That crazy looking El Shaddai game is on sale for $3: http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Pr...5-d802494f07d1
Amazon has physical Shaddai for $5. I am all about it.
edit: oh wait not eligible for Prime shipping. Gaaaaaay.
Today is Call of Duty day.
Pass. Got Code Veronica X for $5 though.
Man, the guys who made El Shaddai have so many talents, it's a wonder videogame-making isn't among them.
Yeah, the demo did nothing for me. When I saw the retail price, I just laughed.
They updated the YouTube app, looks a lot better now.
And now it crashes while searching 40% of the time. :-(
