I don't think they address the major problem with farming in this country, which is the giant subsidies that allow the mega-farms to avoid competing directly with smaller farms. Government incentives are never as effective as natural incentives. Government is a necessary evil, not the solution to every problem.

This could be a tough one for me, because I like both of them a lot. Of course, we're assuming that Obama will coast to reelection, which is one hell of an assumption considering that things are going to get a lot worse in our country before they get better. Jim Webb is my personal favorite, but by 2016 he'll be pushing it in the age department.

Speaking of Richardson for a second, I can't believe there's all this talk about John Kerry as Secretary of State. Do we really want the face of America to be a condescending prick that nobody can stand? Richardson is not only affable, but he already has diplomatic experience, namely with North Korea. He's such an obviously superior choice.

And on the topic of Palin, I can't envision a scenario in which she isn't in the Senate next year. Stevens is going to have to vacate his seat (either voluntary of through Senatorial expulsion), and what happens next is as plain as day. She isn't going away anytime soon.

I disagree. Most people I know are charitable both in terms of time and money. But it goes from "charity" to "fascism" when the nanny state starts handing out Orders of Patriotic Duty.
