It was a bullshit study though, in that it made no acknowledgment of predominantly neutral or bipartisan coverage, which really does make up most (or at least a sizable chunk) of news. They also lump Palin shit in with Anti-McCain.

I would say it had more to do with McCain's reaction to the economy, rather than the economy itself, but then I would have to know what he actually did during his campaign suspension.

I don't think (and I would hope Spo dosen't think) that Mccain would have won with more positive media. That's just dumb.

The point is, people act like all these problems and "hiccups" in the Mccain campaign are exclusive to the GOP. That's a fallacy.:td:

Bill Ayers didn't get media attention until McCain (stupidly) forced the media to look at it by making it the focus of his campaign. The Keating Five thing didn't get much attention because it was already thoroughly covered twenty years ago, with McCain cleared. The democratic prosecutor admitted that McCain was only lumped in because he was a Republican; they didn't want only Democrats indicted.

The study wasn't about neutral coverage; it was about which ticket received more negative press coverage. Palin was on McCain's ticket so of course she should be lumped in, just as the lack of negative coverage for Biden's many retarded statements was lumped in.

For some reason, a lot of Obama supporters feel the need to promote this myth that McCain had the election locked up but gave it away by running a bad campaign.

McCain himself has referenced his involvement as a regrettable indiscretion.

In any event, if we're talking ancient history, the Keating thing is at least as solid as the Ayers connection. Probably moreso since, by most accounts, McCain and Keating were actually good friends, and Ayers and Obama were casual acquaintances at best.

He had an uphill battle with a fighting chance. It was never locked up for either one until the final month of the campaign, really.
