It wasn't unions who drove away manufacturing, though I'll grant you that a century of labor rights struggle to get the average American worker to where he is today in terms of salary and basic rights may have. So, if you're saying what we need to do is get rid of Child Labor laws, the 40 hour work week, overtime, safety standards, etc. and that will bring back cheap jobs from the third world, then I can't help but agree. I just find the idea to be positively sickening and am comforted by the fact that the people wouldn't stand for it. No, what we need is to withdraw from exploitative trade policies and bring back the power of American consumerism to the the country itself rather than the vulturous multinational corporations.
