Maybe you should have come to the thread before yesterday. "It's cool to vote now? I think I'll go post some bullshit in the election thread too!"

Burg gets off on smearing McCain's service as a POW. YAWA thinks everyone that disagrees with him is evil and stupid (even though he can't spell). Squall would probably vote for McCain if he didn't have the option of flushing his vote down the toilet on Barr. Haoh and Frog make good points, but I don't think Haoh is on your side.
A rep isn't going to intimidate shit, it'd just put a strain on relations thinking that you're thought of as less. I don't think if a president doesn't meet with them it's going to reduce their influence since most those people are already filled with ideals of grandeur and think they're bigger than they are anyways.
If anything I'd think it'd get more done, are there any good examples of a president doing just that and it back firing?
Just a thought, but maybe, JUST MAYBE, your worthless rhetoric is a large part of that white noise that is bringing the thread and political discussion in the US as a whole down.
You can talk as much shit as you want about that idiotic woman in that youtube vid at a Obama convention, but when you're throwing out retarded shit like communist and terrorist and hates america, you're just as bad as that woman is.
You want to complain about the stupid people voting, please do us all a favor and stop being one of the stupid people.
Are you guys really arguing who had better posts? TNL is one of a kind.
There are three people that have posted more and added less to this thread than me.
I didn't even watch that video. I sure as hell didn't comment on it.Quote:

What issue would you like to discuss to see who is more well informed?Quote:

That settles it, Yoshi won the election for McCain. You handsome king-maker, you.
Notice how no one put Yeller on their list? I can't imagine why.
"Well thought out" indicates that two views entered and one was reasoned out. You've made some great and informative posts when it comes to clarifying party positions and plans, but as far as your opinions go you have made it perfectly clear that your thought process is strictly if=originated from other party, then=shit. There is no detectable trace of a deliberative process or ability to percieve of shades of gray in your posts.
Yoshi would do better if instead of discrediting any and all of the merit-based arguments to which he has no genuine answer for, projecting ridiculous scenarios based on the information we've been given, and flat out making up bullshit, he actually did provide well-thought out posts with SUBSTANCE in a reasonable discourse.
He's almost as good as Rush.
I'm not going to argue with him though, because he's stuck so hard to the shoe of his party that it's just a waste of time, so I'll continue to just attack him.
The number of points he makes based on ad hominem arguments is astounding.
I don't think that's a fair or accurate statement. I've said multiple times that I don't like the influence of the "religious right", which directly contradicts your statement of me toeing the party line. Multiple people in this thread have also said that I explain my views better than the candidate did, so I'm clearing not getting them from him and then parroting them here.
The fact that I agree with the Democratic platform on very little has nothing to do with the Republican platform.
The unfortunate truth is that neither candidate *has* to do anything that they've been talking about for the past two years once they are elected. All of these debates about platforms, positions on taxes, healthcare reform, social security fixes, the national debt are all about ideological idioms and are irrelevant. Until candidates are accountable for the promises that they make to their constituents prior to being elected, their platforms and the ensuing heated discussion that follows are meaningless rhetoric. Good fun, but meaningless.
Abortion crowd?
Wait a second, do you honestly think Roe vs. Wade should be overturned?
Insulting me doesn't change anything, but that is not only par for the course for you AND your entire party, but it's expected.
I've read the entire thread, but not only couldn't you know that, but you don't care.
If I had time to seriously waste I could gather all your posts together and grade it as a collective argument for John McCain based on valid points and you'd get an F-.
Sad. Politics even bring rabid Devils fans to argue with each other. Have I mentioned that I can't wait for this shit to be over?
And haoh is right. The overall state of American politics is beyond sad. The entire discourse is pretty much ridiculous at this point.
And it's a shame that they're throwing McCain under the bus.
McCain Girl.
If you're in the city, hit this up.

Saddam's influence when he was in power was small and contained in Iraq. Our removal of him has allowed other, often more radical, influences to move in. I fail to see how the current foreign policy has lessened the influence of any other radical group/leader in the region. Ahmadinejad, al-Qaeda, hammas?
By all accounts, al-Qaeda's influence is waning, and they were the key radical group in Iraq.
I do find it interesting that Saddam slaughtering his own people isn't enough negative influence to merit response in your opinion though. You must have disagreed with Clinton's half-assed move into Bosnia too.
Who cares if her bombs are real. I'm all for investing in "expanding our defense".
You know... I'm still pulling for a Bush upset.
I bet you're short.

burg is no fun :( ~ D_N_G
Well, I didn't have much of a political opinion at the time, being 11 or so.
But my opinion on the Iraq war really has nothing to do with my original statement. Saddam did terrible things, but relative to other figures in the region his influence was slim. He was not sowing the hatred of America and the West. I was specifically refering to the fabled "war on terrorism" and the idea that meeting with a radical leader somehow empowers them. It might, but no any more than fighting them does. I'd venture less so.
And al-Qaeda's presence in Iraq has wained, but it still flourishes in other parts of the Middle East.
Why their influence flourishes? That would be because the Iraq war and the current foreign policy has been a fantastic recruiting device.
Or why their influence has waned in Iraq? That would be because increased US troop levels combined with sectarian fighters has either destroyed them or made it so their efforts are better spent elsewhere. At this rate we will be to pre-invasion al-Qaeda levels in Iraq by 2010!
At least they're not going rouge.
I don't have a huge list of these but quickly.

Although, to be fair, flourish is probably overstating. You can easily find as many articles point to a disjointed and ineffective al-Qaeda.
Obama's grandmother has passed away.
Quote:
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A tragic turn of events for Sen. Barack Obama: his ailing grandmother died today.
Here's a statement from Obama and his sister Maya Soetoro-Ng:
"It is with great sadness that we announce that our grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, has died peacefully after a battle with cancer. She was the cornerstone of our family, and a woman of extraordinary accomplishment, strength, and humility. She was the person who encouraged and allowed us to take chances. She was proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and left this world with the knowledge that her impact on all of us was meaningful and enduring. Our debt to her is beyond measure.
"Our family wants to thank all of those who sent flowers, cards, well-wishes, and prayers during this difficult time. It brought our grandmother and us great comfort. Our grandmother was a private woman, and we will respect her wish for a small private ceremony to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation to any worthy organization in search of a cure for cancer."
obama's grandma died of cancer today
November Surprise? /tasteless
Sounds like Obama has it in for the floral industry.
that sucks though. Here's to '08!
Now pull up that video of that Republican who was complaining about Obama taking his private plane out to see her last week.
At least he got to see her one last time, but too bad she'll never see him as President.
I'm rooting for Yoshi.
Write him in.

WHY HELLO FLORIDA. HOW HAVE YOU BEEN.Quote:
TAMPA - Election Day isn't even here yet, but we already have our first voting mystery.
Thousands of pages of voter information were found lying along the shoulder of Interstate 4 this morning.
The papers, all with information about Hillsborough County voters, have been cleaned up and taken to a Department of Transportation maintenance facility for now, but voting officials still don't know where they came from.
Transportation workers spotted the nine bags of documents on their traffic cameras along a ramp off I-4 and I-275.
The Hillsborough County supervisor of elections says it did not come from his office, but looks like it may have come from a campaign office or a grassroots effort which drives voters to polling paces. The documents contain names, addresses, phone numbers, and party affiliation, and if the voter needs a ride.
Transportation officials have called the Florida Division of Elections to see if the state office wants to investigate, and are waiting back for a response. If not, the plan is to shred the documents this afternoon.
Florida is seeking to steal another election? I guess they're not going to wait for the recount this time.

TODE you have contributed a grand total of -5% to this thread, thanks, you dolt.
dude, you've contributed like -5000% to TNL
you're like the subprime mortgage backed security of TNL
Now that's not nice Hi Razor
No, I'm pretty sure I'm breaking even. But why waste time ragging on me when you could be actually convincing people to vote McCain instead of calling us dolts for not being smart enough to do it already.
I can no more convince an ape to salsa dance with your mom than convince you which way to vote. You both lack the capacity for advanced education.
So, who's already voted?
Me
Vote down issue 6 and approve issue 5 TNL Ohio.
NY is backwards and doesn't have early voting. i look forward to sharing my civic duty with like 15 million other NYCers tomorrow. : (
I'm getting out at like 6am to get in line. Taking a book. And a thermos.
Issue 5 is about those fucking payday loan places in Ohio
Issue 6 is for a casino where there are like 20 loopholes so this dude (who is under investigation in Minn) can run with the money and not contribute to education.
The other issues are meaningless and I always vote no
Took me all of about 5 minutes in the third largest voting district in Ohio.
