The Amazing Gender Bending Cat
My wife and I got a six month-old kitten about a month ago from one of her co-workers. She was moving back in with her dad, and she couldn't keep the cat. It's a pure-bred Persian and a beautiful black/smoke mix with a ton of fur. The co-worker gave us the paper work, which had the cat's original name, "Sissy," along with its gender (female), and shot records. We renamed the cat Malih (Pronounced "Molly"), an Arabic word for beautiful that fit the breed.
Yesterday morning, I dropped Malih off at the vet to be spayed, because I listen to Bob Barker. In the afternoon, the vet called and talked to my wife. They had made the incision to spay Malih but had found no ovaries. My wife asked what was wrong. The vet told her that there was nothing wrong but that Malih had testicles. He was so furry and so poorly endowed that even the vet had not noticed the mistake (the breeder and prior vet had it wrong as well). Since he was already knocked out, they went ahead and neutered him. Talk about a shitty day for him.
Today I went to pick him up. The vet asked what I wanted to put on his rabies record, as far as a name goes. To try to confuse the poor creature as minimally as possible, I told her Oliver, so that we could call him Ollie. Here he is:
