Could definitely see it, the PSP version has sold poorly. Hopefully it's not a 1 to 1 port and bit of finetuning is done the console release. *-neo
suddenly, i care about this game again.
I still need to pick this up on the PSP
Why? It'll be better and cheaper on the PS2.
Looks like this is going to be a new trend, which is fine by me. For those who didn't know R&C: Size Matters is coming out on PS2 as well. I have a PSP, but I don't travel or commute, so I'd much rather pay any game on a TV. Thanks Rockstar!
At least now I'll get to play it.
Hopefully God of War: Chains of Olympus comes out on a system that won't require wonky three-button combinations to dodge roll.
It's a mediocre game. And more importantly, it's a game that was designed for a handheld so areas are smaller and overall the whole thing feels less "open" than any other game in the series.
It's fine for a PSP game, but it'll suck for a PS2 game. Yeah, the PS2 version will be better, but it'll still be a bigger disappointment since it'll be on the same system as SH2.
I was browsing upcoming games on gamestop and according their site, this is coming out this week. I had no clue the game was even announced for PS2. This makes me happy.
Heres the Ps2 "features":
-The PlayStation 2 version offers a
Visually enhanced version of the PSP game, with a host of elements that are new to the franchise and provide the player with an enhanced sensation of isolation.
-intuitive 'Cineractive System' that allows players to face down horrifying monsters while the control scheme changes intuitively for each situation.
-Enhanced camera system that actively tracks Travis.
-original soundtrack by series composer Akira Yamaoka.
Day one. I <3 PSP -> PS2 titles.
Makes sense. And I stand by my statement. The quick time events were horrible.
didn't see any reviews for this yet. i can post up some impressions tonight possibly if anybody wants them.
I will be getting this in a few weeks. Still need to finish SH4 and few other games I had started.
Yeah, post the impressions.
Wait, this is out?
Damn, feel like I should be more excited. *-neo
Worth the price of admission, especially if you think of it more as Silent Hill Gaiden instead of a full-fedged title. Biggest gripe is the lack personality in the characters and their overall lack of detail in animation and modeling. At least Dahlia's welfare mom look is a bit more inspired than typical gray witch outfit like Claudia had. *-neo
Is the PS2 version as buggy as I've heard?
my main beef is that you can't equip weapons while walking. you must stand still and cycle through them witht he d-pad. so unless you know what enemies are where (and you won't the initial playthorugh) you're going to be standing there taking damage trying to equip a weapon while you fumble through the XMB style interface.
Finally done. While it doesn't advance the series or feel as grand as a origin story could be, it was decent.
I enjoyed the pacing, some of the boss encounters were cool (too easy though), and most importantly it was enjoyable to wander the town. Jame's Silent Hill was brain-dead easy to navigate and Harry's was a pain due to control and a abundance of fast or flying enemies. Not to mention Origins adds something I've always wanted to see in these games, SUV size enemies.
Inventory management and QTEs were a pain though.
