Generalissimo Killt returns!
g0zen will have to clean his monitor.
That looks awesome.
Still pictures don't look that great but in motion, seeing the new moves, it looks sweet.
It looks like they're definitely on the right track with this remake. The developers mention in the Q&A that bosses were a weak point in the NES game - and they're absolutely correct. While I'm not happy with the lack of online co-op, this still looks like it could be the best Bionic Commando yet. They seem to be really paying attention to what worked and what didn't in previous games.
FUCK. YES.
That looks really cool.
This looks amazing. I really like the attention to detail in the animation. Also, grabbing guys with the arm is rad.
Bit more interesting than the "Real" BC update.
This is a remake of the second game I'm guessing?
The NES one, yes.
oh snap, day 1.
I'll buy it even though it lacks robot-hitler assassinating
Day 1.
PS Is that M.Bison? olo
Is Ninja Five-O an unlockable character?
Yeah, lots of Capcom games have Konami-published, Hudson-developed game characters in them.
I got chills when the video went from 8 bit to Rearmed. This looks awesome.
The screens looked good enough, but I just watched the video, and... wow. Really excited about both this and the new BC... but mostly this. Nice segment at the end, though I think they confused compliment and complement. I'm glad they didn't entirely forget about the Radd part, though.
I could see 2P getting messy, though. I can only hope that there will be deaths due to scrolling the other guy off of the screen.
BISON :O
Glorious. And [it is coming out on both XBLA *and* PSN! HOORAY FOR EVERYONE!]
I love the unlockable mentioned at the end, just another reason to get this since I'm very interested in the new BC game.
B-Ri has been angered!
Now we just need shit to go down in this thread so that we can corrupt a third with this nonsense.
Oooo, sexy.
Holy Fucking Shit!! - Very Excited here
This looks and sounds great.Hopefully the option to re-skin the next gen Bionic Commando game with the original Spencer's look will be available from the beginning, so I dont have to play it with the Reggae Commando.
That video is hot shit.
Oh Fuck it even has the top down stage-select as the original NES - AND if Im not mistaken in those pics it looks like Spencer is fighting an enemy Bionic Commando - OR this thing is 2 player and thats a Co-op Commando!!!
Wow...those shots look awesome.
Is that Shinkiro providing the art?
Undoubtedly.
I like how fake hitler there is some bastard DNA smoothie of M. Bison, Geese and the Captain N version of Simon Belmont
Fuck yeah -- I am so glad that they are FINALLY bringing this back.
Now if only they could hook up Mega Man with this type of treatment.
*thinks* actually they may blow that... 2D FTW.
Mega Man Powered Up.
Edit: Looks like someone came up with a petition to bring Bionic Commando to the Wii: http://gonintendo.com/?p=33242
Bvork: yeah, i forgot about that one -- how was that game btw; I believe it got favorable responses here at TNL.
lololololol
It's really damn good. It has cute graphics, great updated levels, interesting (and bastard hard) challenge modes, and a decent level editor. More importantly, the controls still feel like the original.
Also, Maverick Hunter X rules.
I dunno. I wasn't thrilled with it, but I guess that's because I didn't really like Mega Man X to begin with.
Ah, Nintendo fans.Quote:
8918. Kim S. Bionic Commando started on Nintendo... let it come back on Nintendo!

Last night I saw this thread and the screenshots.
Everyone was all "whoop whoop" and I was thinking "these people are crazy, this game looks crap".
Then I watched that teaser video... and it looks pretty dang slick. That's the way to do a trailer as well, totally got me excited about the game.
Maybe I'll have to get my zboz 360 online finally. :x
DS version plz.

There you go.
Mighty Final Fight is pretty good for a River City Ransom knockoff.
Regardless, this thing looks primed for some sort of portable rev, be it PSP or whateves.
Stop being backwards. We want the PSP remakes on PSN, not the PSN remakes on PSP.
Because then you couldn't play it on your espensive tee vee, I get it.
Sony'll have some sort of cross platform solution figured out in the next year, so point's moot.
Wow, I just got around to seeing the trailer. This looks awesome! :) This is the kind of thing I'd really like to see more of on XBLA/PSN.
<3 Capcom.
for the lazy
Bigger, better version here: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/29799.html
Never really a big fan of BC, but this version looks fantastic. Co-op seals the deal.
The game totally looks like its running on a PSP.
One of my all-time fave NES games. This is some hot shit, and it's NOT the arcade version, thank God.
God, this looks so fucking good.
They're saying that the game will be released in May.

XBLA version gimpped. PC/PSN versions superior says 1up. Reason? 150mb limit.
This filesize limit is also going to gimp my SF2THDQuote:
When the game hits this spring, the PlayStation Network version (as well as the PC incarnation) will have higher-res textures than the Xbox Live Arcade version. Blame Live Arcade's 150MB limit on file sizes, Judd explained.
Yeah, look at all those "high rez" textures in REZ. It looks marginally better than the DC/PS2 game. Undertow? Excuse me, did I just read that right?Quote:
"That's surprising to hear," says John Schappert, Microsoft's corporate VP of Xbox Live, Software, and Services, when we asked him about Capcom's issues later in the day. "Last I checked it was Capcom that had an exception to our file size with Street Fighter II [Hyper Fighting].... We raised our limit to 150 megs, which seems pretty darn great.... I don't think it has limited our games in any way. Look at Rez HD. Look at Poker Smash. Look at Undertow. These are very, very, very good games."
You need to draw a new line.Quote:
"We still want Arcade to stand more for quick pick-up-and-play games that are easy to download," he says. "They're still uniquely different than the retail games. We have to draw a line in the sand somewhere."
Actually, those fans are more and more showing up on the Wii and PS3.Quote:
Both Schappert and Greenberg say they'd be surprised if Capcom's upcoming downloadable Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix also suffers from textures that aren't as sharp as those in the PS3 version. "We have 10 million members," says Schappert. "Where would you want your best games to appear?" Greenberg adds, "Street Fighter II [Hyper Fighting] is the number one-selling game in the history of Xbox Live Arcade. That's where the fans are."
Isn't it MS's responsibility to create the canvas for the developers palate?Quote:
Meanwhile, Schappert says he and his team are on call if Capcom can't get Bionic Commando: Rearmed's high-res textures to fit under the 150MB limit. "There are 800 different factors [besides memory issues] that factor into development," he says. "There's also prowess of programmers. It's never cut and dry.... If we need to help them program their stuff, we have people on [XNA General Manager] Chris Satchell's team that fly around and help our dev teams out when they need it.... I'm kind of new, but [Capcom] knows someone's number at Xbox Live. I'm certainly willing to help them out."
I can't believe the amount of arrogance quoted in that article. Even for MS, that's all just way over the top ballsy. Capcom should tell them, "Sorry we don't think our vision for clean hi res textures fits with your XBLA platform."
I don't think he can hear you.
That's really really stupid of MS, but no concrete differences between the versions have been brought up yet. Molehill.
It's not like it's Crysis we're talking about. I doubt there will be a massive difference in textures.
Fucking seriously. Flat shade it! Who gives a shit?
Tell me there's two more levels in the PS3 version, that would be a solid difference.
How does one convey a "jerk off" hand motion over the internet? BFD.
hahaha I love how cocky microsoft is in that article
"we have more units out there! our programmers are better and can help those retards @ capcom compress the game into 150mb! we're MICROSOFT!"
The 150MB limit is fucking retarded, especially given the fact that you can download game demos and preview videos that are much bigger.
Microsoft is awesome.
For real. You don't see goddamn Open Office hiding Spy Hunter in a word processor.
It really is.
They don't do that anymore after 2000, though. :\
I was hoping that someone other than Bi-Ri posted the news.
I'm still buying the 360 version. My rule is that unless it's substantially better on PS3, there's no point for me to buy it there.
Sucks though. Do you know how many no-HDD owners play these kind of XBLA? MS must. But it isn't even that. A couple, like Exit, REQUIRE the HD (or maybe the 512 MB memory card), which no one has. So this is a really stupid move.
It's a bummer because I think they have done a pretty good job of giving people what they want, and that's why I have supported them. But you're turning on your fanbase here. You know that whole "7.2 attach ratio" or whatever it is? I have about 60 retail games, as do a lot of people here. It means that your fanbase is actually pretty small, and you're slowly ticking them off.
But I guess CoD4 sales will be all that matters, since everyone owns it. The best XBLA games recently, by comparison, sell to <1% of the system owners. You know, US.
Steam release imo.
Yeah lets all support the 360 version....?
It may not be a big deal to you guys for bionic commando (at least we dont know yet until comparisons), but capcoms stance that SF2THD will be equal on ALL platforms, and that the team is having trouble making the pixel by pixel perfect 1080p sprites in the small space, that they are thinking they have to down the sprites to 720p, and effectively fuck over the other versions = LARGE FLT for me.
I am supporting that version because all things equal, I like where MS is going a lot more than where Sony is going with respect to gaming as a whole. That is why.
If the trade off is that a release or two will have slightly smaller textures in some places, then yeah, I can deal. It's when it gets out of hand that is the issue. And when that happens, you'll see me on PS3 all the time.
:doubt:....
except that CAPCOM made that decision, NOT MS, and also CAPCOM made the decision on this title that it wont fuck over the other 2 versions because of XBLA limitations.
Here is hoping that CAPCOM reconsiders and doesnt fuck other the other versions of SF2THD like they are doing with BCR.
As for respect to gaming as a whole, WTF?
I'm gonna buy two copies of every Capcom game on the ps3, starting after Lost Planet, in hope of making joust cry.
MS is doing a lot more to help developers out, whereas Sony's focus is on us watching Ultraviolet on Blu-Ray. MS is a software company after all. So if I have to take a little bad with the good, I can deal.
Company loyalty is ridiculous, no matter which company you back. Unless it's Valve.
Agreed. Some people mistake company loyalty with ideology loyalty though.
I have both systems and will be happy to make the switch if Sony shows me what I want to see.
blv.
Although, I could give a crap about slightly lower texture fidelity. When the cap starts meaning levels and features are getting cut, that's when I'll really care.
Right, so Edge tools shared between all first and second party companies is nothing. The PhyreEngine, the free multiplatform engine sony released is nothing. Sony pretty much writing a blank check for Epic to hurry the fuck up and finish PS3 UE3 is nothing to help developers at ALL.
That is a drop in the bucket in comparison. Ask pretty much any smaller dev house. Ask Sidhe where their Gripshift DLC is on the PS3. Sony is banking on their platform being the platform strictly by userbase, not by ease of use. And as we go further into gaming, that's going to be a bigger problem. And Sony's tools have always sucked asswind.
You need to stop drinking whatever they serve at Neo-Gaf. I know that they take everything as some earth shattering event, but people really should know better.
Anyway...
Gripshift was made on the PhyreEngine. The engine they used on all 3 versions of the game.
You can toot microsofts horn all you want about "ease of use" blah blah blah, but a 150mb limitation does NOT serve games any better. Microsofts biggest mistake is destroying the standard they created, the standard HDD.
Dont fuck over SSF2T because of XBLA Capcom. DONT.
No but having countless 360 games delayed because the PS3 isn't up to snuff (because it's all about movies! devs be damned, yay!) means more to me than a few textures.
Which? Besides GTA4 what games have waited on the PS3 version?
There are plenty of games out there that prove software can be done and extremely well on the PS3 (Capcom im looking at you, 5gb install and uncharted streams?!), Sony is trying to remedy issues (hell even insomniac has stepped in to aid developers). Capcom, dont gimp my SF2THD
Im not derailing this thread anymore.
Worse-case scenario: SSF2T:HD Remix on the 360 gets 720p textures, PS3 gets 1080p textures. As long as both versions play identically, then there shouldn't be much concern.
Won't happen. Changing the resolution of a fighting game sprite is a lot different than changing texture resolution on a 3D model. I doubt they'd spend the money and dev time on making two versions.
Sweet

PSN Bionic Commando features remote play.
