So what's easier in that case? Offing yourself so you don't have to deal anymore or getting some help, working through it, and making things better?

Mental illness doesn't work that way. You can't apply that American dream logic "It just takes a little hard work" to something as unreasonable as severe depression.
What a waste of a life. While I was never a huge fan, he was popular, talented, just had a kid, and he had soooo much left in front of him. Obviously there were things going on that we, the public, didnt know about, but to me this looks like he just threw his life out the window. Accidentally, maybe, but he was still willing to risk it by doing drugs.
Who uses dollar bills, jesus get some straws.
But 9 times out of 10 it's not actually a mental disorder, at least not one that can't be overcome. It's a multitude of things, one is having the option to run away from it, which if he was doing drugs sounds like he was doing, until he eventually let it catch up to him and just opted out. I don't want to say that's what happened because none of us know the guy personally.
I was severely depressed through much of high school and eventually overcame it with support and just facing the problem. We're too quick to say "OH YOU ARE MENTALLY ILL!" instead of trying to actually, lol, work hard through it. Not saying it's not the case as you put it, but both are possible realities.
Everytime I'm depressed I do drugs, and it makes me feel better. You guys should try it
Yes, but method actors take shit SRSLY.
EDIT: I really want to see Brokeback Mountain, Lords of Dogtown, I'm Not There, and The Dark Knight now.
You guys really need to see Candy, it's one of his best performances, and he is playing a drug addict...
Oh... and that The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus film is a Terry Gilliam film... that poor fucking bastard, how many of his films have fallen into production hell.
