You bitch about refs consistently and 5x as much when the Devils lose. I agree that officiating, in general, has been spotty this year but there have been plenty of games that the Rangers have lost wherein they've been called for 5 more penalties than the opposition. That's why you play extra carefully on the road - particularly in venues like Montreal. I think there were plays that weren't called on both ends - but in the end they usually do favor the home team. The only reason the Rangers have been having better results lately is because they are taking ZERO chances on the road. And they are STILL called for penalties. ;)
And, I think all of us should let go of the pre-lockout NHL. It's obvious that most refs don't "let the players play" anymore. A clutch, a grab, a trip, a tug, a stick check that's under the arm, etc... just isn't going to be let go anymore. I wish it wasn't the case, but it is.
I caught some of the last period in that Montreal Devils game. I found it to be pretty entertaining. Brodeur was standing on his head for a while there.
Guess his own teammates don't count, either:
"He’s a great leader this year,” said teammate Steve Begin. “He’s healthy this year, he wants to play. He wants to be the best player. He knows he’s the best player and he wants to be on top. It’s a plus to have him in great shape for us. We’re happy. It’s just a bonus to have him at his best. And even when he’s not at his best, he’s still one of the best players.”
Yeah, he's talking about Kovalev, in case you're wondering.
What an awful period of hockey. Christ.
This Rangers/Flyers game on NBC right now is Spaz-tastic! The first period ended 3-3, now its 4-3 with 7 left in the 2nd.
Apparently Sutter watched the same game I did.

It was taken out of our hands. What are we going to do.

When asked if he felt it was fair that the Canadiens had a 6-2 edge in power plays, his answer was simple: "We're in Montreal."
I'm still pissed off about the officiating on Janaury 24. Now I can add March 1 to it. Fuck Montreal.Quote:
Both calls upset me. The first call came five seconds after it happens because the fans are yelling. I just watched video of the second call, and I still don't know where that call came from.
Stop crying about the officiating.
Also, someone better win this Rangers/Flyers game in regulation. I don't want either to get a point for overtime.
Edit: So much for that, the ineptitude was mutual.
