Islanders playing the Rangers in March when both are in the hunt for the playoffs = 1 hour of recognition on WFAN.
Mike & The Mad Dog are absolute retards about hockey and shouldn't speak about it at all.
At least there's Steve Somers.
The interview with that Isles (owner?) or whatever, the guy behind the big building project, that was a good interview.
I hope they get a new building (with mass transit to it). If I could hop on a train and go to a game once in a while, I would. NYC and back for me = 5+ hours of travel time via the train = most of the reason I gave up season tickets to the NYR. It was a 9 hour ordeal at the minimum.
KFAN here in MN talks about hockey all the time, the news talks about hockey, Hockey is enjoyed by people here. Its the "State of Hockey"TM
Our boys high school tournament is going on right now at the Xcel center, the place is packed all day, for days.
Hockey in NYC is a distant fourth behind NFL, MLB, NBA. Hell, an argument could be made that more attention is payed to golf than the NHL.
Hockey is weird, even here though. It gets a lot of attention by a lot of people, but there are a ton of Hockey people here. Its still second fiddle in terms of coverage behind the Twins or Vikings.
The only coverage we get here is mention of Pittsburgh (win or lose) and Buffalo (if they make the playoffs). Football season is Pittsburgh all the time with a smattering of Buffalo when they're good. Baseball.....well they mention the Tribe since the Pirates suck.
I just hate people that are fans solely because a team is somewhat close. Like when i go into a bar for football season. You always have the Steelers jerseys and one or two Browns fans then me with a Seahawks jersey. All the time i get:
"wtf is with Seattle"
"i like them"
"why.....Pittsburgh is our home team"
"wtf?"
at the Otters games i always wear my Blackhawks jersey and until just this year i was always the only one. It was always Buffalo jerseys (when they were real good). No Penguins since it's a 4th tier sport and jerseys are "expensive".
The transit situation around this area is horrendous, not even mentioning the idea that they built Nassau nowhere near a train station. The Meadowlands would have been horrendous as well if I didn't live ten minutes from it.
It's silly that it would take you that long to get from LI to the Garden. You could drive to Boston and back and still have time to hit a bar in 9 hours.
I hate people from South Jersey who are Flyers fans.
How the hell does Carolina keep winning?
they STINK!
