Breaking Bad

The first season wasn't as good as the second and third, but a lot of that comes from them having to shut down right around the Episode 6/7 mark when all the shit they build up to every year starts paying off. So really I'd have to say no.. there has never been a "bad" episode.

I think it's the best show on TV by far, sucks more people don't watch it

The cop that got axed in the beginning was brutally awesome!

The reaction Walt had when Jesse threw in that "bitch" when he was talking to Hank from inside the RV was LOL.

Hank tripping out in the hospital was intense. I actually had chills even though I knew there was no way that phone call was legit.

edit: btw, did anyone else think that Walt called Mike the cleaner to come and save his and Jesse's ass?

If there's one complaint about this show it's that Hank and Jesse always seem to be in the same state of relevance (which reminds me of how Heroes is essentially the same show every season. Claire mad at Dad. Peter "coming to terms" with his powers and how to use them", etc). The difference here is that the writing is amazing, and the delivery moreso. Walt always one-ups Jesse, and is apprehensive about getting in to the cooking biz (even though he is). While Jesse welcomes it with open arms but plays second fiddle. But to me that kind of nitpicking just shows Breaking Bad has patience, and will take the time it needs to twist its characters to the will of the story.

The biggest evolution of a character in the show has hands-down been Hank. He got flat-out worked this week.

Hank is a much different character since El Paso and the same could kind of be said for Jesse post-rehab.

The characters that never change are the two no one gives a fuck about - Walter Jr. and Marie

I agree Marie's character is pretty worthless, but I think Walter Jr. is one of the better characters on the show. Just the way he looks up to Walt and his reaction to the whole divorce thing was really good, "outdrinking" Walt and Hank at the party was also great. I just think for his character to stay interesting, he needs to somehow find out about what his dad really does.

Definitely best show on TV in the last few years.

I really like how Walt has found a sort of kindred spirit in his new lab partner. Just by watching the montage with no dialog you could see it, like Walt turns to the guy for something and he already had whatever Walt needed in his hand waiting for him. After all this time of telling people what to do he has an equal to work with. That bit of stress is gone for him. The set up they have is so damn cool, the greatest hideout ever.

At the rate things are going, Hank might have a stroke before he can pounce on anyone. He was so mad at the end you could almost see his blood boil. So good.

Walt Jr. really hasn't had much opportunity to do anything, He's still an innocent bystander at this point because of his age, no one tells him anything. Jed is right, letting Walt Jr know what Walt really does would be a huge opening for his character.

It'd be cool if he started using meth, but that's probably a little too "TV" for Breaking Bad

The guy is TOO perfect. It really looks like he's playing to Walt's ego while he finds out all he can about his methods. Corporate espionage! Sorta!

Even so, I expect to be proven wrong. It's hard to guess where this show is going, and I mean that in the best way possible.

Gus clearly sees Walt as a short term investment. I think once the lab gets set into an established routine, the assistant will run the show and Gus will throw Walt to the wolves. He had to buy some time for this to happen so he's sent the twins onto Hank (who is a problem to him too).

Gus doesn't seem so cold, but I guess no one becomes boss of a territory without the capacity for it. I'm hoping that the whole 'three month' proposition was just a way to get Walt working for him and he'll try to keep him working for him after it's over. After all, Gus did say that he didn't like to use fear as a motivator and values loyalty.

I think it's pretty obvious that his lab partner is there to learn all the tricks. In an obvious obvious kind of way. I don't think this show is trying to hide that connection at any rate. As soon as he walked in and the lab guy was here you got that vibe.
