Walt has realized -- and I keep going back to his meeting with Mike in season 3 -- that there are no half-measures in this business. You either go all in, or you get busted. Jesse will either make the same realization, or Walt will have to kill him.

All very good points, but hasn't money been the first and primary motivator? It's how he rationalizes what he does, money is the goal.
