It hasn't been a good year for games based on the Marvel comics universe. First Cryptic studios imploded, possibly
killing the Marvel MMO in the process if rumors are correct. Then EA Chicago, developer of the underwhelming Marvel Nemeisis fighting game,
shut it's doors.
Now comes word that Electronic Arts and Marvel have
prematurely ended their multi-year deal to develop games based on the Marvel catalog. In the process the previously announced fighting game EA Chicago had been working on is also scuttled.
This does not affect other Marvel licensing deals, including one with Activision that resulted in the Marvel Ultimate Alliance game.
