Contest: TNL Face-off Tournament - Round One

This contest is for a $75 Amazon.com gift card you can use at the TNL Store. (If you have any questions about Amazon gift cards, click on the link to read more.) This is a very informal contest and besides the standard disclaimer, "Void where prohibited," I will say that I reserve the right to do whatever I want in this contest and I make no guarantees other than I will try to be fair, I will abide by the laws of the United States, and I will give away the prize.

If you've seen the original Face-off thread, you probably have an idea of what to do. If you've posted a picture there already, you are automatically entered in the contest.

Hubbitron and I will judge entries American Idol style. You have until 11:59 PM Eastern Time on Sunday, February 3, to post your best face-off. Hub and I will pick the top ten of these at our discretion and put them up for a vote. Once that happens, this post right here will have a poll in it. Your vote will not be made public.

The top five winners will go to the second round, and then the top two winners in the second round will face off in the final. But more on that later. Just realize that the winner will have to submit at least three images: a different one for each round.

The faces will be likely judged on some combination of overall impact, humor, originality, unpleasantness, intensity, and how much universal truth they contain. Other than that, there won't be much to guide you. Just make a face you think TNL will enjoy.

Your posts in the first thread count, so if you think any of them is good enough to be in the top ten (remember, one will be selected per user), you might consider saving new faces for round two. On the other hand, you can't be sure you are in round one, so you may not want to gamble.
