I don't even think they're a horrible idea for something that's ment to be functional. Shit goes wrong, there's bits to that boot you'd probably want to be there.
On record, Ol' Joshy also thinks men should be riding scooters around, so he's not the go-to guy for this stuff.
He says if you're wearing jeans you can't even really tell what they look like, depending on how much you spend, they're recommended.
That green pair looks like cosplay for the Guyver.
I understand they have rockets built in to the heels.
Oh My.
I am 100% okay with looking like a Power Ranger.
Ol' Joshy doesn't care for the patriarchal attitude around these parts.
It does get old
Now that it's cold I'm rocking the hoodies and Sean Johns.
Someone help me find a good looking red tie. I went to various stores and the red ties all suck. Maybe I am just picky.
Come to Macy's on 34th today and I'll help.
Maybe, sure.
Nice clothes in film blog
http://clothesonfilm.com/the-big-leb...cardigan/9808/
Pretty educational. There are some interesting articles on where some of the clothes come from in film. Who makes them. The Style of it. Is it branded, is made just for the film, etc.
btw, anyone else have some cool clothes blogs?
i have a lot of them, but they are definitely girly fashion blogs.
I don't believe I'll be able to "make it work."
any of them on working with clothes, textiles or leather? I've been meaning to make some guitar straps.
I want these hideous 80s shoes
http://www.the-house.com/gr0bbom085w...ate-shoes.html
Do you own a wakeboard?
No, but I could get one.
I ended up going clothes shopping. Went to a close out store that had a bunch of hurricane Katrina clothes. Got 3 pairs of levis for 6 each. HURRICAAAANNNNEEEEE PAAAANTTTSSSS \m/ \m/
can any of you wear levis slims or Vans slimbos? they had some 30 30s and 30 32s
yes, yes i can. are the 30 30s black?
By the by, the motorcycle boots I ordered are comfortable as fuck. The only issue I have is the hard leather chafing my shins. I'm sure I'll break them in slowly.
oooh, boo. usually vans jeans are kind of awful. i was hoping for $6 black levis >: (but not cords, that is not ok.) thanks anyway!
My favorite cashmere sweater vest got a hole in it when I snagged it on a corner. =/ Is this repairable or should I toss it?
how big is the hole? I imagine if it's fairly small, it could be sewn up where you wouldn't be able to tell. if it's larger than a quarter though, it will be noticeable if you repair it.
Going to get tossed then. So expensive, damnit!
awww, bummer. well, i guess donate it to the salvation army or something? i mean someone out there may be cool with patching it or something.
I burn torn clothing. If I don't wear it it's not worth giving away.
I wish I could make you understand how insane I think you are, Razor.
you'd laugh at the stuff i buy to resell. seriously, i just bought a sweatshirt for 50 cents that had clear cigarette burn holes and rips in it, i spraypainted it and put a patch & design on it, sewed in my own label, and it sold the next day for $30.
I see your point, but i don't wear clothes you make. My clothes is mute but well put-together unless it's some band tee and shit. That said, some places here won't take clothes like that anyway.
nah, nah - I know that you don't. In fact, truth be told, i don't wear much of what I make either, my own style is pretty toned down compared to what I sell. I just think it's funny that when I rummage for things, I will specifically look for the clothes with wear and tear on them. Truly, there are people (including myself) who will buy just about anything!
If I weren't this tall, I would've bought this Ramones tee from around 1981 from Search and Destroy, an old punk rock clothing store on St. Mark's in New York City. But it was a medium (more like a woman's extra small) and about $100. It was pretty worn, too. that's the closest I've ever come to buying hand me downs.
ugh, jealous! I haven't found an original Ramones shirt I really really like yet around that price. I don't have any qualms paying around $100 for a really well worn one, but most of the 70s ones I'd like are $200-300+ and I'm honestly not going to pay that much for a tshirt I want to actually wear out.
Come to the store. It's worth the flight.
;__; i'm seriously considering it!
What kind of nightmare are you living in where you'd consider paying $100 for an old punk shirt???
I'm changing up my style a bit, getting a new hair cut. Rocking out my favorite bands, and getting those tats still.
Got my first pair of raw selvedge denim. They are Naked and Famous brand, weird guy fit, indigo (aka standard jean color). Anyone into raw denim? I've been wearing them all day to start breaking them in.
What is the story on raw denim? Seems that some people think it is the only way to go.
Seems annoying - and more expensive for the privilege.
You're not to wash them for at least six months (apparently). Bring on that swamp ass.
Yeah, even with a daily shower and underwear change 6 months is a tall order.
Frankly it's already hard enough to find a pair of jeans that fit brilliantly over time without adding new variables. Although if this means the backlash against the retarded wear patterns people have been putting on jeans has begun I'm all for it.
That is sort of the point. The jeans will break in and stretch to your body like a pre-treated pair wont, so they will have a much better fit. The wear marks will be natural and line up on your body with whatever is making them.
Not saying I buy in yet. I've heard the same things as Buttcheeks though, once you use a pair you will never go back. I wasn't happy with my old jeans only lasting 1 to 2 years and these are much tougher. The material is made on old vintage looms with much better construction than typical jeans. I was buying designer jeans for the fit anyway, and at least with these I am getting some quality materials for my money. They sounded interesting so I am testing this pair. (and they look rad)
lol $120 for jeans.
My $30 Mossimo jeans from Target have been going strong for 4 years. I refuse to believe you're punishing jeans any more than I am.
If you like the romantic idea of the jeans conforming to your body, that's fine, but it sounds like a pain in the ass. Niggas talking about sitting in the tub wearing them... and Vintage Looms is just marketing. I'm sure they're well constructed, but so are the Levis you see still holding together from the 60s.
icarusfall has no fucks to give on your high priced jeans
Relaxed-fit Mossimo Jeans = seams that have never felt any punishment ever in their entire life.
I wear jeans often in the kitchen.
I promise they've felt more punishment than your jeans.
Also: It's the style thread, not the high priced thread. Furthermore: Your version of style is not mine. Mine is not yours. We don't have to agree.
Paying $120 for jeans isn't style, it's just offering you the privilege of feeling like they're made in some exceptional way. My jeans look great and cost $30. That doesn't make them any less stylish.
Again, I point you to the Levis still holding strong for 50 years.
The biggest thing I'm snobbish about is where clothes are made. I'll pay to get something made in the US or UK
though I tend to wait for used/sales
It's also not the bring up the old "HURR DURR $120 FOR JEANS??! LOLZ" thread. Those arguments are tired. Either you think it's worth it or you don't, and I'm fine if you don't, but why come in and shit on it? But yes, your jeans are less stylish.
It's not Sesame Street where everyone's opinion counts and everyone's style is just as good as everyone else's. Everyone likes what they wear presumably, but that does not make them stylish. It is about about popular opinion, trends, and what kind of clothes will get you laid by hot superficial women.
You are so wrapped up in being counter culture so I wouldn't expect you to care anyway, but it's no different than someone telling you your burgers are silly and overpriced because McDonalds costs 1/3 the price. McDonalds is just as good, right? It is about the ingredients, the work that has gone into them, and the craftsmanship displayed in the final product. Maybe you should stop judging artisan clothing.
lol - you're just clueless.
I'll stop though.
It really is a terrible analogy.
A lot of regular consumer stuff from the 1960's still is good today. That doesn't mean the regular consumer stuff from today will still be around in 2061. Shit just ain't made like that anymore.
Think whatever you want, higher priced clothes and shit last longer and fit better.Quote:

there is more to it than that. Some high priced brands are really good. That is true.
And some cheaper brands will last just as long.
But a lot of it is the same shit, made in the same factory with very little improvement in quality. If any.
You have to be a smart consumer. Shelling out cash doesn't promise you anything more than being better than walmart clothes.
I understand your line - It's just that I still have a bunch of clothes from my teenage years that are still perfectly fine.
Some stuff is made well and some stuff is made to fall apart. I have nothing against artisan made things, I have something against cork sniffing faggotry.
I mean, I own knives that cost hundreds of dollars. They're just very nice. They don't work a huge amount better than a $50 blade.
I'm talking about having to buy a pair that's either too big and hoping they shrink appropriately, or going slightly too small so once they expand back the fit will be right. This sounds like it only exacerbates that problem.
Also the fancypants "self-edge" is along the inseam which isn't where my jeans typically fail.
There's a great documentary on this called The Lightbulb Conspiracy.
Man, there's a lot of caca in this thread. I'll say this: more expensive clothes is priced higher for more than just a label. Lower priced clothes often imitate what high-end fashion houses try to do which is why you'll get your Targets hiring well-known designers to make fashionable clothes that hit the streets 2-3 years ago. That said, cheaper clothes obviously go with cheaper material since they're selling it at a much lower price. They also don't have the wide array of options that higher-priced brands offer because they don't want to spend the money for skinny boot-cut jeans, slim straight-cut jeans, etc. They rather have different colors than different styles because it's less time consuming. I can guarantee you I can buy a shirt from Tom Ford that will last me maybe 5-10 years longer than the one I buy at H&M because it's made with better care and more expensive material even if it is all cotton.
Do you have to spend $300 for a pair of jeans? No. I wear Levi's exclusively and they're great. I do everything from go to work to move furniture in my joints and they've survived. Do you get a better fit, more options, and better material from more expensive jeans? Yes without doubt. Even if you think Levi's are the low-end option in jeans, they really aren't. They're considered a mid-end brand because they offer jeans that are over $100. You guys may not see them in whatever states you live in but in New York they exist. And yes, they offer more sleek cuts and better materials. I spent $50 for each one of my Levi's and I don't regret it. They're form fitting, strong, and are dark enough to go with everything.
With all that said, style should really be what makes you comfortable and reflects your personality. Many of you won't wear a camel-hair peacoat with a Tommy Hilfiger shirt, Calvin Klein skinny tie, GAP khakis, and Izod sweater vest, but so long as you don't dress like a clown and like what you wear you're doing it right.
Wow, $50 jeans? New York sure is a big ole city!
I like 501s a lot, getting ready to wash my first shrink-to-fit pair today (they are apocolyptically stinky at this point, haha). Will report back with results.
$50 Levi's? From what, Target?
Back when I had money, I got some $200 jeans. Not because they were $200, I would have rather they been $2, it Just so happens the ones I wanted were $200. They are still awesome, I enjoy wearing them, the outfits I can put together with them, and how I see myself in the mirror with them. 0 regrets.
I don't buy dirt cheap clothes very often, since most of it is clearly garbage, but the few times I have, I was surprised at how long they lasted.
I have a pair of $10 boots that have outlasted all of my other footwear, and the $3 pair of jeans I bought a few summers ago survived almost three years of being worn at least twice a week.
The one time I spent over $100 each on pants, neither pair lasted more than six months.
I really can't quote this enough. The difference between Target jeans and 'designer' jeans is IMMENSE. The patterns and materials that lower end clothing companies use are vastly inferior to brands that cost more. I mean, I love Levi's but unfortunately in the last few years the quality of Levi's (women's jeans mostly, seems the men's jeans are still decent) has TANKED because of them being carried in lower end retailers like Sears and JC Penney. If you get a pair of $100+ jeans, chances are you're going to be able to tell the difference in style, cut, and often dye. the cheaper retailers will often use awful black or blue dyes that literally run over anything.
I used to swear by Cheap Mondays (moderately priced hipster jeans brand) but their quality has also suffered a bit in the last few years. So far I haven't found a replacement I'm happy with - skin tight black denim for short chicks seems ridiculously hard to find except in really low end retailers like Forever21, and the quality is garbage.
Speaking of black Levi's jeans...did you get my last email?
YES i did, sorry I didn't respond yet. Thanks for the offer but that pattern nonsense isn't my bag - I like very plain black.
They are a flat black. The light colored stuff is mud...from the hurricane.
I can wash a pare to give you a better idea.
oh my lol, i had no idea. sure, actually - i'm emailing you now! hahahaha i thought they were that weird splatter paint deal.
thats the mud of a 100 suffering Mississippians.
more street cred that way

Cool shirt
I'd sell that. Not wear it, but I'd sell it.
You should get a plain white shirt, cut a couple of inches of the collar loose right at the throat and paint blood dripping down the front like a slit throat.
Profit.
Andrew WK already sells that.
Party.
Despite what you think of the band. Faux bulletproof vest with bullet usb on sale for $39.99.
http://www.mychemicalromance.com/pro...a-vest-and-usb
haha, once again - i wouldn't wear it but i'd sell something like it. The kids would go nuts. I kind of give mad props to the kid in highschool who does wear that out, though.
Would you wear this?Attachment 64166
I don't think I'd wear OR sell that, sorry :(
The back of that shirt says "at math"
very true
maybe at cheating on math test

That sweater actively depresses me.
Smoke some reefer dude!

Kill yourself?
