That's kinda harsh.
I'm with Razor, I don't care that other people smoke it, but I have very little desire to smoke it. It'd take a girlfriend who was into it for me to even give a shit about it. Not worth the money.
What's it cost where you live?
For $60 I could get high every day for a month.
Way more expensive here for weeds.
I don't know, man. They're all pretty fun.
That cat is too damn smug for his own good.
Nothing wrong with that. I feel the same way about alcohol and pills.
I think it's well established that marijuana 'culture' is for retards.
It's embarrassing at best.
I blame it for why it stays illegal.
People don't want to see "weed culture" by walmart. Or taco bell out right making commercials for pot heads. Shit would be horrid.
The digiorno pizza that comes with cookies is bad enough
Ah. Good ol TNL. You guys never let me down.
I just don't get why that's supposed to be funny. To each their own, I guess.
What I like is how the dorkiest little stimulus will get a nice little crew of the usual suspects lined up to pontificate on their feelings towards marijuana as nonusers. It used to be annoying but now it's charmingly cute.
There are plenty of things that are ok to like and do, but have a horrible fanbase/culture around them.
like radiohead fans
I think buttcheeks is correct.
Who?
Does anyone here have any experience with Toms Shoes? I need some loafer-style shoes and for ~$50 these look appealing. But I need to know if they last a while. I'll beat the hell out of these things in the summer. I also want to know if they're comfortable.
Just get nice loafers IMO. Toms Shoes are Crocs for people who dislike Crocs.
I just caved and got me some slip-on Vans. Loafers are too "business" for what I'm going for.
I prefer the look of Vans to Toms, anyday. Toms sort of look like something out of "The Mummy."
yeah but some girls will be more willing to suck my dick with Toms on than Vans in NYC. Welcome to Hippie town.
Nah, it's the same here too. Bitches collect those shoes, they love em. Not really my thing, I usually wear platform boots or ballet slippers.
Just picked up this coat on super sale:
http://mamasarollingstone.com/wp-con...idget-coat.jpg
I'll probably get to wear it once before summer hits, because it's been painfully warm out. But I've wanted a coat like that since the 90s, so I figured i'd grab it for next winter.
I have no idea what I want my style be. You'd think that at my age I'd have it figured out, but I don't and these days my concept of how to dress is completely fluid. If I had the lettuce and lived somewhere other than CT (the land of blue jeans paired with a North Face fleece) then I'd rep like Ryan Gosling did in Crazy, Stupid, Love.:
http://www.the-nextlevel.com/tnl/att...3&d=1332546880 http://www.the-nextlevel.com/tnl/att...4&d=1332546880 http://www.the-nextlevel.com/tnl/att...5&d=1332546880 http://www.the-nextlevel.com/tnl/att...6&d=1332546880
...But I'm poor and stuck where I am for the time being, so when I go out I just rock a pair of size 30/30 dark navy Old Navy boot cut jeans (always at the waist), which show the ass off nice, with a size small tee and a pair of these:

I'm 5'9", 150 LBS with a slender frame and an athletic build, so that combo is relatively flattering on me. My T-shirts are either a solid color or band tees. V-neck or crew. For the colder weather I have some collared shirts, slim fitting, striped or solid, a few thin sweaters (I'm partial to Kenneth Cole and Claiborne) and a few plaid shirts. I actually have a decent selection of outerwear... I have a couple of leather jackets, one brown and the other a black-brown with a slightly worn look to it which I use when I take the motorcycle out. I also have a black wool winter jacket (Kenneth Cole) and a couple of track jackets. Oh, and I have two blazers - a black and a brown one, both velvet. As far as accessories, I don't wear jewelry but I do have a nifty Fossil watch that winds itself and which was a gift from my grandmother after my Gramps passed (it was his). I'll wear that on occasion. I also have a plain black leather belt and a plain brown one, which I coordinate with whatever shoes I'm wearing. Usually it's my Sambas, but I do have a pair of matte black leather Rockport casual dress shoes as well as a pair of brown leather Bostonians. I have one plain black skinny tie and rarely ever a reason to wear it.
Hmm. Now that I think about it, my wardrobe seems to be cold weather centric. The rest is just a hodgepodge. In the summer I'm usually a hot mess in the style department and tend to just give up and wear what's comfortable. Most of my attempts at a decent warm weather look have failed, so, as a result, it wouldn't be uncommon to catch me in August in shorts, a tee and flops. And shades. Right now I've got a crappy pair of black plastic sunglasses that I bought from Target for $20. I'd like to replace them at some point with a pair of Mosley Tribes Pilots like E from Entourage wore, if I can find them.
Wait. Velvet blazers?
I see nothing but blue question marks.
Fixed those links (I hope).
And, yes, velvet. Like this:
IMO, the biggest thing the guy you want to look like is doing is getting his clothes tailored for a snug fit. (some might consider it very snug).
You probably won't get dress clothes to look that 'perfect' without getting them tailored. If only because very few people have the same body as the dummy at the factory.
Lol, north face clothes. Fucking hate that shit.
I broke from my decade-long position on men never wearing shorts, and bought some cargo shorts from the Gap. Long trousers are impractical when you get within a certain distance of the equator. At some point, comfort has to trump fancy lad fashion sense.
If you need cargo shorts to carry stuff, you're carrying too much stuff.
Old Navy jeans and Gap cargo shorts have no business in this thread.
I will say that GAP has some solid clothes. Slim as hell khakis they sell are amazing. Now they're collaborating with Johan Lindeberg, Ian Velardi, Todd Snyder, Mark McNairy, Shimon and Ariel Ovadia , and Josh Rosen, Morgan Collett, and Colin Tunstal to create some solid menswear. You really shouldn't underestimate them.
It's not for carrying stuff. I just like how they look and feel compared to regular khaki shorts, which are for little boys.
I won't wear cargo pants, though. Regular khakis or GTFO.
I have nothing against the gap, just cargo shorts.
old navy on the other hand is always garbage.
I buy their underwear and undershirts because they're comfortable. Lately, however, I've been using Uniqlo to get my under garment needs filled. The clothes they sell suck. They're all too big with no defined shape. I always get hoodies and outerwear for workouts from there a size smaller than I normally have to because of it.
I have a few old navy garments, all xmas gifts.
It's okay stuff, but I'd never buy it with my own money.
It's true, though. Gap opened here in Guam (just in time for my arrival), and they have some new colored pants that look really snazzy.
I don't think I'm confident enough to pull off colored jeans anymore. In college I used to rock midnight blue and dark red but I always feel like I'm too old (and out of shape) for something that loud.
I find (at least in my case) darker colored pants are much easier to pull off. You have to be super thin to wear the bright colored pants, or risk looking chunkier than you are.
Believe what you will, but I've actually had pretty good luck with the brand. I've been complimented, and each time it was completely unprovoked, by at least a few women who had no idea that my jeans were from Old Navy. Granted I'm a cool drink of water and it's not the clothes that make the man, but I've gotta give the pants SOME credit. Quality-wise I'll admit that they're not the greatest though. The blue washes out fairly quickly and the material isn't what I'd describe as overly comfortable, but I don't expect jeans to feel silky and, hey, at only $30 I can just donate my faded ones and buy a new pair. That said, I also have an Old Navy jacket that I wear sometimes when the weather's mild and it fits me like a glove, is extremely comfortable and shows no signs of wear at all even after years of use. It isn't high fashion but I don't wear it when I'm trying to look dressy.
This is interesting, because I wear clothes that fit and what I have from them are pretty snug. Maybe they just don't have anything that fits properly for someone of your height and weight.
And is midnight blue considered loud? I described my jeans before as dark navy, but midnight blue might be a better way to describe them and I've always considered 'em to be more on the conservative side.
Are you fat? If you are, the clothes were made for you. No offense.
And midnight blue may be too dark. Think of Smurf blue but just a couple of shades darker. Still loud to me because it's not an ubiquitous jean color. And living in NY really just gets you used to different colored jeans. Uniqlo sells every shade in the rainbow for $20-30. They are SUPER tight in the crotch, though. It's the reason I had to stop wearing my pair of Uniqlo jeans.
After wearing Express jeans, I can't go back. It feels like you're wearing sex. I've had some luck with Gap and American Eagle jeans, but they're hit or miss.
Old Navy jeans are just too baggy on me in all the wrong places.
Yeah, if I were to dress like him then I'd for sure have everything tailored. I dig the snug fit as long as the person trying to rock it has the body for it.
LOL. My personal favorite, and I don't know if this is just a CT thing, is soccer moms during the summer who barrel along in their Chevy Suburbans while shivering in their North Face fleeces with the windows rolled up and the A/C cranked. I'm not sure exactly what my definition of an asshole is but that just might be it.
None taken. I'll just quote myself from earlier:
I have thin chicken legs which is why I wear boot cut and not skinny. I hear you about the super tight crotch though. Even my Old Navys give me the nut cramps on occasion. I've never heard of Uniqlo, but their website warrants further investigation. Thanks for the heads up, man.
If I recall correctly they only have stores in NY for the US. But it's worth a look if you're close.
My nuts will never suffer for fashion.
They don't have to. How many times do we need to go over this?
Do you even know if it is high performance outdoor wear?
I've never seen anyone actually wear the shit in the outdoors.
Hash tags don't work here.
Uniqlo is fantastic. I wish they would open up their store in SF already so I could visit. Really nicely made clothing for not too terribly much, it's a bit pricier than H&M for most things but they are very minimal and better made.
I can't say many good things about Old Navy, their quality for women's clothing is absolutely appalling. The men's clothing does seem to be made a bit more durable, but the women's department is just...ugh.
I still can't believe you find any top that isn't custom made.
I am getting close to redoing almost my entire wardrobe. Starting to price stuff out which is what hurts, so I'm debating getting "filler" pieces to lay out the style and slowly get nicer items as I can afford them. I really like vests so I've been trying to find some styles which aren't too dressy and incorporate them, like the style on the right of the attached picture (or the left, if you button it and lose the tie).
Any suggestions or helpful links?
I've found an amazing Polish store that makes really nice shirts and dress for ladies shaped like me. Takes a while to mail over, and pricey. Honestly, I tend to hit up thrift stores and I layer a tank top under. I've found pretty great deals like 11 shirts for $38 at a thirft store.
Uniqlo is everywhere in Korea, but I never bought anything from them. They seem to be all about bright colors. While it looks nice on the rack, I don't want to feel like a fluorescent marshmallow.
Now I throw a chef jacket over my hobo clothes.
I wear bright colors.
Colours. Autocorrect can suck it.
Fashion Designer to the Stars E'Ron Butte' cheeks
I'm not afraid of a little color. Uniqlo's website has made it into my Delicious bookmarks and I may even take the train down to the City at some point to check out the store. It'd be a great excuse to hit up my favorite spot, 7A Cafe in East Village (bangin' omelettes).
I don't mean to sound like I'm singing it's praises, BTW, when I say that I've had decent luck with Old Navy. I'm fully aware that their quality is suspect for the most part and that their style is usually pretty garish and / or boring as well as geared toward the very young. But I'd be lying if I didn't tell you that I have a couple of jackets from there that don't look half bad (for what they are) and have held up surprisingly well as far as wear and tear goes. Perfectly, actually. And my two pairs of boot cut jeans look fabulous on me, fer realz. So that's why I don't feel that they should be completely written off. Now as to their stuff for women I'll just have to take your word for it, I wouldn't know.
Uniqlo's simplicity and ubiquitous nature is what makes it so good. While everyone else is trying to catch as much attention as possible, Uniqlo's founder Tadashi Yanai wanted to make clothes that not only look good but blends you in and keeps you grounded. I've bought sports coats, rain coats, pants, etc. from this store and it really works well when you're wearing a bright green dotted shirt or anything of the like.
How are you this gay?
It's The City.
What?
how gay you are
I hate that the last time I was in NYC I didn't have time to stop at uniqlo. Definitely stopping in there next time.
I shop a lot at H&M but mostly for well-cut basics, so I imagine i would find a lot of good stuff there.
I went into Uniqlo the first time last month and bought a sweater and slippers. It's definitely not the last time I'll go.
Ironplant, there was an article on Uniqlo in a GQ from last year that talked about the philosophy of the store. The info is out there if you care.
I wish you guys would stop addressing the ghost in a thread he doesn't care for.
Who?
I don't even know.
I really like the trend of vibrant colour of the last few years. It used to be so hard to find colour in men's stuff. I try not to overdo it because looking like a lightbrite isn't something I aspire to but little pops of colour coordinated in a look work for me.
Ironplant: if you want to walk around in cargo pants looking like a juvenile piece of hot garbage who's afraid of adult things that's fine. Leave the homophobic bullshit in Arksansas or wherever the fuck you're from.
A few years ago, I had a really nice pink-striped Oxford from the Gap that I liked a lot. My rotten cunt of an ex-girlfriend said I looked like a "stupid peppermint."
She was right.
Oh man those heels are getting some play. Colorful boat shoes and bucks are all the rage.
It came to my attention that the wind cares about my heterosexuality and my knowledge of clothes. This should end that.
lol, really proved me wrong with your short clip of two men in a car from a tv show.
Would anyone want to see an example of my current clothing stlye?
If it's just the pants, sure.
Are you talking about the ones you've posted on FB?
These are more recent.
I do :3
You're not wrong. DayGlo and bright colors have definitely been in for a minute now. I wore this tee to the gym a few months back when I first got it and noticed like 3 other people with a similar shade of blue on:
http://www.the-nextlevel.com/tnl/att...8&d=1332898101
I remember thinking that I was going to stand out with it and instead I fit right in. Also, shoes with a bright colored heel are hot.
You probably shouldn't base whether or not your color choice is "in" on whether you see it at the gym.
What do you know? He might go to the fashion gym.
Normally you'd be right (Zubaz anyone?), but I've noticed that the change to people wearing bright colors at my gym has been in parallel to what I've seen while I've been out. So I think its just across the board in this case. And that's why that particular tee is the tits both inside and out of the gym.
Fe 26: Hardly. I always refer to the one that I go to as "the ghetto gym." But it still has its fair share of trendy fellas and ladies who like to look good when they work out.
