Prob 30 for the part, then 100 for pulling the steering wheel. No mention of them breaking it.
"You're turn signal cam and multiswitch were broken. That will be 150 in parts and 180 for labor. We had to pull the steering wheel to get at the parts."

Working on a car and breaking shit instead of fixing it is something to be proud of.
If all mechanics around you are like that, move. I won't say it didn't take time to find them, but I've got a couple guys I trust.
$75 an hour for labor seems worth me not botching shit up and being able to hold someone else culpable if something is botched up.
Whatever. This argument is always stupid because the other side never wants to admit their own insecurity and private belief that they are too stupid to work on anything on their car.
50% of car repairs are really simple. The only things that should be left up to professionals are engine, transmission, body and paint work. If you're not doing the other stuff, you're either stupid or lazy. Maybe both.
I won't take this any further. I'm not going to get you to admit your own faults.
Or my time is better spent doing other things?
Do you clean your own teeth? I don't mean brushing, I mean getting in there with dental tools and scraping all the plaque and shit out. Why not? It's simple enough to do. It's certainly cheaper than a dentist visit.
Do you side your own house? Do you do your own roofing? Stitch up your own wounds?
Lots of shit is easy to do. Lots of shit is better done by a professional.
If every town in the US had 1-3 places that I could buy dental equipment to clean my teeth at prices 1/3 of 1 dentist visit, I would clean my own teeth.
But, seeing as those machines are 1-3k each, and you have to pay someone to come install it, and I can't actually see inside my mouth as well as someone else, yes, I pay someone else to clean them.
And I'm looking into roofing. It seems simple enough. My dad's shop needs a new roof. And I have three day weekends and my job has flexible hours.
we've both been posting here long enough to know this statement is dubious. You have time for dozens of games but not a 30 minute car repair?
You don't know my posting that well then. It would take years for me to have played dozens of games.
But that said, yes, I enjoy games. I don't enjoy working on a car. So that time would be better spent by playing a game.
I'd rather pay someone to do something for me that I don't enjoy doing. I can admit it.
That reminds me, can your dad hook me up with a colon exam?
Probably.
