What's Bugging You Today? Volume 3, Part 1

I enjoy the giant bomb podcast for the most part but that dude always has the worst random opinions.

You know, like sleeve.

I like the Giant Bombcast. They're all pretty knowledgeable and fun to listen to; they have good chemistry.

What I hate is their Quick Looks, I really don't understand their purpose. They go out of their way to know nothing about the game before playing, are constantly confused by game mechanics, skip tutorials and mash through message prompts only to be confused by what the game JUST told them to do, and often accuse a game of being buggy when they just really don't understand what's going on. Brad especially. I get it, you don't care about the game or even trying to learn the tiniest thing about it... SO WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS VIDEO? Who is it for?

Trying to grab that angry videogame nerd audience.

That sounds exactly like Conan O'Brien's video game interviews, except without the funny.

In general, I don't get a lot of video game Youtube videos. They're either uninspired AVGN clones, or bland rundowns of games no one gives a fuck about featuring charisma-deficient mouth-breathers monotonously huffing and puffing into a cheap microphone.

So then it's exactly like Conan O'Brien.

I like the QLs for the most part. You see a good bit of the game (usually) and they have my kind of humor. When we get together for games, that's pretty much how we are

That's how I feel about it - yet when they do a game right (like Dark Souls) the QL's are really good at showcasing the feel of a game and get you amped for it. When they do it wrong (which they do often) a game comes off as confusing or uninteresting mainly because they don't know how to play it well.

For the most part its fine enough for passive listening. I find it odd though that they outright will say "I'm not familiar with X game/series so let's spend 20 minutes to slam it."

I mean, it's parts Guys Talking Games which is fun; part Gamerz Journos Keeping the Hype (esp. Assassin's Creed anything) which is annoying; and part Contrarian Edgy Snark Patrol which isn't funny.
