so i visted the folks today. my stepdad was having a conundrum on what to feed his belived 60 pound Brittany Spaniel with his dog food. normally he gets whatever they eat and have left over. today there weren't left overs since my mom was working late. old lunch meat or hotdogs wasn't good enough. he goes and makes up a fresh hamburger patty and fires up the grill just to make a hamburger for the fucking dog to put in his food.

-Took my wife to Wisconsin Dells last weekend. We left Saturday under a Tornado Warning, 90 MPH winds, the city was without electricity, and flash flooding everywhere. We stayed at the Cliffside hotel next to the Dell's big tourist attraction Lake Delton. Monday Lake Delton broke it's banks and rushed into the Wisconsin river taking a highway with it. Lake Delton is gone, all 250 acres of it.

Welcome to the DC / No. VA / Baltimore Metro areas. PT here sucks pretty bad unless you actually live in the city, and even then only if you live relatively close to the Metro stops. The bus/Metro-rail system for getting into DC from the suburbs is woefully inadequate for the amount of suburban sprawl that is this area. Buses to the fringe Metro stations run infrequently and stop running fairly early in the evening, and even then I'd say that the average bus/Metro ride into the heart of DC is around 1.5 hrs. It's also relatively expensive, even with gas prices being as high as they are, so you don't really save any money using PT vs. driving, save for paying for parking.
