Yikes, male cat? Urinary issues are no joke. My cat went from looking fine to critical in a day and had to spend the night at the vet.

Cats get UTIs hella easy. You actually got a pretty low estimate on treatment; it's not nearly that cheap where I work.
Brought him home last night to the tune of $190. Giving a cat medicine is a real pain though. Still waiting for urinalysis results.
yeah :( what kind of medicine is it? (like, pill or liquid?) If you can hold the kitty by the scruff with some force - not too hard that it hurts them obviously - and just sort of do it really quickly they won't know what hit them and they'll swallow the meds quickly. hopefully. yeah, it's not easy.
Truth 99% of the time. Boba was an exception though, had to get him to take small pills once and tried hiding it inside some food to trick him into eating it (what my Mom always did for her cats and it worked). Boba played with the food until the pill popped out, then just ate the pill and left the food alone. Miss that little guy.Quote:

Not sure if it's because of Obamacare (although I think it is ), but it's taking me a while to get the referral I need to have an MRI on my shoulder. A couple years ago all I'd need to do is get the referral for the MRI from my doctor (which I got the day of my visit), setup an appointment with the radiology center, get the MRI and then wait for the results. Whole process didn't take as long as it's taking now. Why is our healthcare system so poorly run? 'Tis bringing out the Type Ryan in me. Not. Happy.
When I needed an mri it took about a week to get it done, which seems reasonable. We were under obamacare as well.
Doesn't seem like Obamacare. The referral might be taking long because they are assclowns and thought they did it but didn't (this actually happens). You do need a referral to get an MRI.

I got an MRI last year. I had to wait a couple of months, and I was told that I was lucky since the typical wait time is six months. That's Canada's Utopian universal healthcare system at work, folks.
