Shingles, which is a herpes family virus, basically adult chickenpox. On its own its pretty painful but its currently on her eyelids so her eyes hurt (near worst pain ever she says) and it makes it hard to see b/c her eyelids are completely swollen. Since its a virus that takes hold in the nerves they're worried about it getting into her ocular nerve where it could blind her permanently. Its treatable and we caught it before the blisters started to form, but the screw ups here are making me nervous. Especially in losing the anti-inflammation drugs used to treat it, especially cause now she's covered in blisters form the brow to mid eyeline.
She's been in and out this morning since she got the morphine. I wish instant messenger and face book worked here but even with tor I cannot seem to access them. I think the hospital connect is really flakey.

Hospital connections are flakey because there are too many electronic signals passing through the hospital (cell, pager, wifi, instruments, wireless, satellite, etc) and you have too much steel around you. My old hospital had lots of dead zones just from the steel/concrete. Add the number of machines transmitting data to stations, doctors getting pages, cellphones ringing, and other crap... you were lucky to get anything even on a ground line.
My Windows install corrupted some drivers due to (most likely) a faulty power cable on Friday morning so I spent yesterday rebuilding, reinstalling programs, and getting it back to where it should be since I was an idiot and never made a backup. The old hard drive is perfectly fine so I didn't lose anything data-wise but it's still annoying.
My mom got Shingles earlier this year, it was on her legs and forehead, that virus is nasty.
MarsKitten, I really hope your gf recovers fully. If I was a praying type, I'd say a prayer, but I'm not, so I won't. But I will think happy thoughts and try to project them your way or something. Either way, best of luck.
Verizon did something similar to me- I kept going over on my bill due to Data and Text, so I changed to an unlimited plan. Then the bill comes, and I'm still getting charged extra. Seems the person I talked to to change my plan documented the call in their notes, but never actually changed the plan. Verizon credited me back what I was overcharged.Quote:

Tonight at my night club job, a friend of mine, whom ive already told him he has a drinking problem, whom ive already told him hes not getting in on guest list by me any longer because his public and embarassing drunkeness looks badly upon me for letting him in, got piss assed drunk tonight. Passes out and collapses on the dance floor, and needs to be lifted by 2 bouncers out of the club. A doctor is called to evaluate his condition and i am asked what i wanted to do with him, i told them take him away. He was not responding, and was his medical condition was upgraded, and was taken away in an ambulance. I had to alert family, and talked to my boss and officially banned him from every night club night we do.
his friend whom was with him was kicked out an hour earlier for being drunk AND underage. When i called to see what his issue was he was at iHop with god knows who, i asked him if he had a ride and why he left my friend and was trying to argue with me about him doing nothign wrong. Ive banned him as well.
