Settle down Salt_Vagina.
Snaking is horrible. It's a failed attempt to add an extra level of depth to the game. When done right, like combos in Street Fighter 2, these changes add a lot to the game. An obvious difference between combos and snaking is that combos are doing the same thing, but doing it well. Snaking is a replacement for regular MK play, and it's not fun at all. Tricks have a lot of potential to be a step forward as long as they don't change the primary gameplay.
I bought those on the Xbox about 3 years ago.
Snaking is fucking retarded. This isn't a racing game as much as it is a "beat the fuck out of everyone else and try to be 1st" game.
Every item should be able to be turned on/off. Imagine how much fun you could have with a race where the only thing you could grab is bombs. The combinations alone would add TONS of replay.
the rollercoaster stage does look pretty cool. i am excited about the online play, snaking or not.
Snaking killed the DS game dead for me. I usually don't write a game off for a single flaw... in fact I can't think of a single other time I've done that. But snaking totally and compleatly broke the game to the point of no more fun.
Learning an advanced technique to keep up with the "pros" is one thing, but snaking is just flat-out retarded and playing the game using it is just no fun even when you win. Playing the game without using it is just no fun because you have no chance of winning.
To qualify "retarded":
*I know it's just a video game, but jerking left and right to gain speed? That not only makes no sense in regaurd to real-world physics, but it's compleatly counter-intuative to racing controls and just yanks you right out of any suspension of disbelief you may have had when playing. It just doesn't feel like driving. It doesn't even feel like fake driving.
*Snaking physically hurts my hands like a bitch.
Snake or Die.
