I added everybody, lets play!
Ok. here's my code (finally) to be added to the list...
1934-1071-
p.s. adding everyone on the main page of this thread NOW.
Damn, I finally got in a game with Bacon and at the start of the 3rd lap he dropped a bomb right on my grill and then I got a disconnect. Oh well, maybe more of you will be online next time.
Wow...I actually like the wheel...but not on Rainbow Road. :p

Hey just so you guys know, if you install the Mario Kart Channel you don't have to manually share friend codes. (at least the in game ones) All you have to do is send any friend on your Wii friend code an invitation and if they have the game and accept it'll automatically be added to your MK Friend list.
weeman: You're right. I couldn't believe it, 12 people from all over the world in lag free races, I didn't think that was possible. The only issue I have is occasionally Nintendo WFC disconnects me before and after a race, but never during the race.
Squall: For controls, I like using the Wii Wheel when I am using a kart, and I switch to wiimote/nunchuk with the bikes.
Since bahn's being a total cocktease about his MKW friend code, I tried adding his Wii code to my address book, but it says I need to register him. I don't know how to do it. I checked everywhere on the main menu, but all I could find was the stupid address book.
Oh well. Perhaps another night.
Let's race
Alright, I'll get on, but I'm still getting used to the controls (that's why I'm sticking to battles for the time being). But you can hand me my ass in a race if you want. Just a sec.
It won't let me join :(
Never mind, join up in weeman's room
Me neither.
I'm hosting a game if anyone can get in.
I have to hit the hay now, but damn, that was fun. No lag, no booting. We must do that again.
Looks like you can only host private games.
If we ever get a good size group on, that's probably the best way to go. Otherwise, I guess we'll just have to deal with randoms and disconnections.
Yeah, establishing a set time would probably be best in the future.
Here is my MK code - 4296-3420-6467
I should be getting this in a couple of weeks and I'll add my Wii code then.
I didn't get to play much of this today, but I'll add the rest of you to my friend list tomorrow.
LOL. Damn.... THAT would explain why I didn't get any invites after my post.
I was certain the code was typed in full. Sorry guys. Ah well, here's the code again...
1934-1071-2726
squall: You do have me on your AIM list ya know.... cheesehead.
p.s. it's been added on the main page of this thread too! Thanks Frog.
For the people whose Wii friend's code I have I added you through the Mario Kart Channel by inviting you to be a friend. For everyone else I'm adding you through the MK Friend Code, my friend code for MK is
0559-7208-4801
I won't have a chance to get online though till end of this week.
I'm doing pretty well against random people, I just can't wait until TNL kicks my ass and shows me I'm no good at the game. <3 Weeman
I hurt my shoulder a bit at work today, and my first thought is, "Fuck, I can't use the wheel in Mario Kart, I'll have to use the nunchuck."
They say that the nunchuck combo is the best control method for Mario Kart Wii.
Seems Nunchuk is best for bike and Gamecube controller for kart
http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/25/th...ller-showdown/
I don't really see how the Nunchuck and Gamecube controllers would be significantly different for karts, but it's definately easier to do wheelies with the nunchuck.
Here's my code, I'll start adding later.

I just connected to a few worldwide games and had alot of fun. I'm happy that the online is better than SSBB. Here's my friend code:
1461-6683-7212
Come on people..add me! I want to get some gaming on!
I can't connect to WFC tonight :(
Odd. I saw that you added me btw - thanks. I'll try to get on in a few minutes.
Bought this for my friend John and we ended up playing it for a bit.
The wheel is ass. The day that gimmicky motion-sensing controls are as accurate as a standard controller is the day I'll care.
I had hopes for this after the awesome DS game, but it still feels too much like terrible Double Dash to me. Too many items flying around, absolutely constant squid jizz, lightning strikes, and blue shells are symptoms of Power Stone 2 syndrome where the core game is beaten and abandoned to cry in a corner while the "fun" and "party" aspects come into play to ruin everything for anyone trying to race even a little bit.
The only good Mario Karts were the SNES, GBA, and DS ones for single player.
OK, I just added everyone, so here's my fc again:

I like the wheel, it's fun.
I'm going to finish adding everyone that I haven't yet and I'm also adding K3V and Bahn's Wii friends code also.
Just got mine today, and have added everyone on the first post.
My Code: 0903-3251-1593
Protip: Try not oversteering like a spaz.
Protip: #*(*&@% your mother's @@&#&@ with #*&%@*@ Airbus.
Also, you're probably right.
It does! So far! Going to try it again though! It's like steering a shitty boat!
So, I'm seeing random stray pixels on my Wii (lol std) -- should I be worried?
You sure that's not your Tee Vee?
yep, it's only when I play Wii.
Well, it's probably not a good thing. Overheating graphics chip? Just a wild guess.
Regardless, Bacon and I were just racing against Hitler and the Devil. For reals.
I slayed them with my Broadsword of +3 Tight Cornering.
The galaxy is safe again!
???
I don't understand the problems people are having with the Wii wheel. The Wii wheel controls perfectly fine for this. Some of you sound like you've never driven a car before. Just hold the wheel straight (no reason to over correct either because the karts go relatively straight on there own) and turn the wheel slightly to the left or right to turn. There is nothing hard about it, and the wheel is VERY PRECISE...especially compared to the crappy motion controls in Excite Truck.
Some of you drive very small cars apparently.
I drive a Miata. so me being good at MK might be considered cheating.
Seriously, I went out with my car club buddies once (most of whom have much more real track experience than I do) and we went to a go kart track. I was doing pretty bad until something just clicked: Why don't I try driving this thing like I was playing Mario Kart?
I won. Repeatedly. I am now known as a go kart demon.
Did you throw tortoise shells at 'em?
No shells, but I was snaking the whole time.
I don't know if it was random or not, but nice races PB.
I've been playing with the Wiiwheel and haven't had a problem.
They seem to be a variety of colors. I turned the system completely off instead of leaving it in the standby mode where it will tell you if you have a message or not - I'll see if the cooler temps make a difference or not.
A week doesn't sound too bad but I think my system is out of warranty. :(
Yeah, that might help. My system used to be very hot to the touch, even when off.Quote:

You don't have it laying horizontal on a glass or metal surface, do you? Those seem to conduct and trap the heat underneath the system, I had it on a glass shelf for a while and the glass itself would get quite hot. I moved it onto a wood shelf, and it's been running a lot cooler.

Ok I have everyone whose posted added.
I'm gonna put my friend code out there again cause it seems the only person showing up in my friends list is GlassJoe.
0559-7208-4801
Chip. It's a graphics chip.
So, busted vacuume tube, eh?
There's an imperfection in the particle collider.
TURN OFF THE CHOKE, YOU'LL FLOOD THE GRAPHICS ENGINE.
Check the elephant gasket imo.
Or Johnson Rod.
I'm gonna go race, so if anyone wants to play, add me. :)
I don't think the wheel is the worst invention for the Wii - far from it. I am just not as accustomed to that type of format right now, which is why "I" love the nunchuk setup. The comparison to the car is an interesting example -- I wish it handled EXACTLY like that because I am sure those who you felt were complaining would be even more thrilled if it had that precision (which in my opinion, it doesn't). I plan on using it again cuz I want the Gold Wheel icon (just to say I did).
Samba: I will add you (and anyone else I've missed over the past two days since the GTA4 craze); hopefully will catch you on.
Those who havent added me yet, here is my number
4296-3420-6467.
K3V is the only one that has added me.
I just added everyone that I hadn't added before. I'll be on and off or a few hours tonight, I want to work on some time trials tonight.
By the way, check out the time trials on the MK channel and look at your friends. weeman is waaay ahead of everyone else, ha ha.
I added you, did you add me back? or have you checked your wii message board thing I think I sent an invitation.
The only ones of those that people seemed to have accepted are Glass Joe and Gohan.
I've added everyone in this thread.
Hooray for gold wheel and unlocking Birdo in one swoop!
Also: Enough with Rosetta already.
Finally free for the week!
I will be trying to finish up the unlockables this weekend, and will be checking the Wi-Fi channel periodically.
Add me if you haven't already:
- wEEman33: 0001 3703 0544
They have the first tournament time trial going on.
Here is my friend code, haven't posted it yet so if add me let me know and I will add you.

I've been playing this constantly online. I do much better with the classic controller than the wheel, which is for advanced players.
Really Ithought everyone's been sayin' the wheel was needlessly complicated and you could just play with GC controller.
So general concesus of this game is that it's good?
I think they're just trying to justify their purchases. Lets pretend for bit you didn't have to 50 bucks for it. Now what do you guys think?
From what I've gathered from a few different podcasts its just more of the same. Granted I haven't played it yet but Nintendo isn't doing a good job of selling me on this.
My g/f is buying this not me. But I have a Wii, I don't want to hear her bitching if I sell it, and I don't really know what other games are out there to get for this thing.
Paper Mario is really cutesy I'd get that for my girl. just sayin.
Fuck you. If I don't dig a game I have zero qualms about putting it on the shelf barely-played. I don't justify.
That's mostly true. If you see that as a bad thing, then this probably won't change your mind. Personally, I really liked MKDS, so more of the same (+ better online) works just fine for me.Quote:

DS MK> Wii MK, personally.
Automatic bot racers on every split screen mode is a pain in the ass.
Just picked this up tonight, add me!

Officially logging on to play tomorrow. Lindsay won't be taking up ALL my time cuz she needs to sleep eventually.
I think the same could be said about any sequel - distill it down enough and it's always just more of the same. Being more analytical also leads to the conclusion that many games in a genre are just more of the same and games itself is just the same regurgitated ideas and gameplay elements.
So the real conclusion is that people who never liked Mario Kart in the first place won't pick up on this. People who dig the series will, and those who are new to the whole kart racing genre (or games in general) could get a real kick out of it.
At first I wasn't too impressed with MKWii but it's grown on me in a big way. It's sad to see all the new elements from Double Dash axed so fast, but nice to see some of the better, more traditional ideas from MK DS return. I'm even happy with drifting now - after playing some DD! post-MKWii, it feels a little more fast and frantic to find the right line that will earn the best drift boost, as opposed to wiggling around. Although the AI is knuckle-bitingly unfair, online matches are possibly the best reason I've had to play anything online, save CoD4.
Also, I added everyone Yoshi put into his first post, so I don't know if I missed anyone. I'll check around but only kayvaughn has added me back.
I guess I wanted a console MK DS. Meh I liked DD just fine I'm just not as excited as I wanted to be about this I'm glad it's fun I'll check it out soon enough. :p
If you put it that way it actually makes me wanna play it.
Is there any advantage to using manual drifting instead of automatic?
Manual = mini-turbo's from manual drifts, which is great on bikes, not so much on karts, at least as far as I've tried with it.
Also: Added you.
