That looked like one of the more interesting PSP games at E3. I'm cautiously optimistic.
The perspective mechanic going on there is pretty ingenious. Neat!
I'm pretty excited for this. I believe it's done by Sony Japan, which is responsible for a lot of good quirky titles. It's also scheduled as a PS3 game--I'm sort of hoping I can buy it on the PSN store and move it to my PSP as well. Otherwise I'll have to decide which version to get and I'd probably go PSP for this type of game.
Cool, I'd forgotten about this game. I figure we'll probably see it in May, if Sony's usual translation speed is happening.

This is not the case though.
The PS3 version is sort of a "Lite" version, as the PSP is a "Full" version.
Differences? PS3 version is half the price, at about $17-20, while the PSP is like $40?
PS3 has 50 levels, PSP version has 100 levels.
Bigger differences. PS3 version comes with a level generator, thats shareable through PSN. PSP as far as i have read does not.
So are we supposed to believe a monochromatic portable game costs as much to develop as Warhawk? lolioliolio
Bet it sells more. ;)
Hell, it already looks more interesting.
This is based on OLE Coordinate System.
I love this stuff. Thanks for posting that.
Interesting, thanks for the clarification. Sounds like it's the PSP version to get, though the level editor could be reason to get both.
Development costs are hardly relevant to the price of a game--usually the games retail for what the publisher thinks it can sell for. Honestly, I'd be surprised to see Echochrome priced above $29.99, but I'll get it even if it's forty bucks.
It would be nice if you can create the same levels missing from the PSN release with its level editor..
Who am I kidding, it'll be a paid download for sure.
There's a demo of this on the Japanese PSN store, free to download for either PSP or PS3. It's only three levels but absolutely worth checking out. I hope this means it's coming out this weekend.

It'll probably hit at the same time as the PSP version.
Japan gets it soon
i believe US is in the summer.
Echochrome is going to be a downloadable PSP title released in early May for $10. Definite purchase for me.
I've tried the JP version.. It has a mode called "canvas", IIRC, but I haven't tried it yet.
It's a fun little game, overall, with some nice music.
I played it for a while, it just kind of frustrated me actually... it's too touchy about angles being exact.

demo for both PSP and PS3 versions tomororw.
Both PSP and PS3 versions to be priced at $9.99
Picked up the PS3 version today, and it is really fantastic. It's a breathe of fresh air in the puzzle genre. I absolutely love the style and the music, I find myself really relaxed when I'm playing the game. Even if I'm ready to throw my controller against the wall because of some difficult puzzles.
I have only gotten through the first 7 or 8 levels, but after the first 2 the difficulty really ramped up. The game really forces you to use all 5 techniques in tandem to get through some of the more tricky puzzles. Plus I love that you can approach each level with a different solution. On one of the stages I found 4 different ways to get to a single check point. I also love that immediately when starting up the new game, I downloaded new content. A sign of good things to come.
My main complaint at this point is the camera. I wish there was a zoom feature. When the level get to be tall and complex it's tough to see exactly where things are when the camera is zoomed so far out.
There's a snap feature for the perspective paths. If you don't use that it's tough to line up a path exactly. Other than that I have found things to be pretty fair.
I'm glad with my PSP purchase of the game, but I'm pissed that there's no support to download additional puzzles to my PSP.
Just played this courtesy of the voucher with my PSPBrite...interesting concept...but yeah it looks like it will frustrate the hell out of me.
