Grease Car

This guy came into the restaurant today to ask if he could have some of our grease from the grease trap out back. Of course I asked what it was for. He said so he can afford to make his 100 mile commute to and from the Pentagon every day for free. He was driving an old Mercedes Diesel sedan. He integrated this system into his car. He was so excited about it and he got me all excited about it so I'm sharing it with you. He said "people think I'm on crack but this is the real deal". Holy shit its amazing.

I was actually reading about conversions like that the other day. It's really interesting. I imagine filtering used oil is irritating and it sounds terribly inconvenient in places with cold weather, but if you're willing to put up with it I imagine the savings could be pretty good. Plus the novelty of it is kind of awesome too. The exhaust supposedly smells like fast food, which I kind of want to witness for myself.

Omg he said "it smells like french fries/burger king when I'm on the highway". He's gonna let me drive it later this week.

Does it affect the performance at all?

apparently you can't even tell the difference when you switch to grease.

One thing I remember from working in food service is that those big vats of grease smell so bad that they made me nauseous.

I can't imagine riding around in a car with that smell.

True, but I wouldn't think it would smell that bad, it's not like you got a big vat of grease sitting next to you in the passenger seat. Anyway, where I live, gas is over $3, so it might be worth the trade off.
