And Kotaku lives up to its reputation of (lack of) quality journalism. Because I'm smarter than the average Kotaku editor, I can surmise that this came from the analyst meeting that happened today.
There are two webcasts of the meeting available on EA's investor site, but I'm having no luck accessing them.

Edit 3: Another PDF confirms several new Sim games: MySims Kingdom, MySims Party, SimCity Creator, and SimAnimals. In addition to the usual slew of Sims 2 expansions - most focusing on user-created content.
Anyway, reporting bitching aside, Pandemic is rightly known for its sandbox games - a genre that doesn't really seem like it would be a good fit for LotR. Who knows, though.
