I'm sure you've already read this countless times by now in a number of other places, but serious: the 3D on this thing is god-damn ridiculous. Or, at least it is when the people making the game give a damn, if I had to make a best guess. All of Nintendo's stuff looked awesome; third party stuff varied. Ridge Racer with full 3D turned on is like taking razer blades to your eyes, if you enjoy that sort of thing.
How does this 3D work, anyway? Slightly angled overlapping panels?
I'm more curious about how well it works? How's the viewing range on it?

That, basically. 3D is in full effect so long as you're looking straight at the 3DS: which, by the nature of handhelds, that's what you're always going to be doing anyhow. Using the slider has different amounts of effect depending on the game. To be honest, most of the times I tried it, it really seemed to have three possibilities: fully 3D, kinda-sorta 3D, not at all 3D. So, don't expect to have like single-digit percentage point control over the 3D effects. I'd say it's main uses are when the full 3D in a game is just too much for your eyes to handle, or when you want the game to go back to traditional old 2D.
I couldn't be less interested in 3D in general, but I find myself being slowly but surely won over by the 3DS.
However, that slider better really go to zero. I still want the option to remove 3D effects without a trace.
How does it look with the 3D effects off? Does it look like a regular screen, or is there a black mesh blocking half the image?
Has Nintendo annouced a release date for 3DS yet? I lost my DSLite yesterday (think it was stolen), so I am in the market for a replacement.
