Re: 999
The best way for me to describe it is as an M-rated, locked room puzzle, anime styled graphic novel. The translation is fantastic: the dialogue is well-written but still contains unfortunate Japanese tropes (the worst being really out of place pervy responses), and I've only found one grammatical error during my two playthroughs. The puzzles have not been difficult in the least seeing as how everything you need is located in the one or two rooms you're currently stuck inside. If you can't figure something out, chances are you just haven't clicked on every active part of the rooms. I've played through the game twice, making different decisions both times and ended up receiving two bad endings. Not really sure what triggers which ending... could be a decision tree that branches throughout the game or something as simple as multiple endings depending on number of playthroughs.
During a new game plus you can hold down right on the dpad and fast forward through all the dialogue and cutscenes. Unfortunately if you end up in a room where you have previously solved the puzzle, there is no option to skip it; you must do it again.
I'd recommend it to people who like digital novels and can still stand storytelling at the manga level. If you liked Phoenix Wright you will probably eat this up, if not you will absolutely hate it.
