The only ones laughing right now are Atlus (seeing as they are bending me over, and scored an extra $20+ out of me), and everyone who didnt buy P3. I dont know about you, but I dont have a ton of time to endlessly put in RPG's so I try to get everything on my first playthrough, so I can move on to another in the pile. Atlus bringing FES out this quickly makes me wonder if they couldnt have just put this in the original to begin with...

This makes me feel a little better. And I GUESS it would be cool to see and recognize the differences in the two.

I dont know. Im really torn between, the "Im really glad we are getting this new stuff which I didnt think we were going to get" and "Im pissed at Atlus for hooking up everyone else" ideals.

FES is a rather large expansion on top of a huge game, which already required a massive localization. Maybe some of the larger companies can afford to take risks like that, but RPGs are pretty niche these days (with few exceptions) and Atlus is certainly no SquareEnix.

And as others have already written, you'd very likely be paying ~$30 for the append disc if they had released both versions.

Well, localization was probably well under way when FES came out in Japan, right? If they delayed it to translate FES, we might not be getting the game until now!

...and apparently that's what's happening in Europe. But they're not getting FES. Ouch.

Anyway, I got the game last year and it's great. Best RPG I've played in years. In fact, one of the few I've actually cared about in a really long time. There's no excuses left for anyone! Play it. It's really, really great. I will gladly get FES when it comes out.

Yeah, I guess you're right.

Okay, I feel a bit better about it. Ill just keep playing and re-start up FES when I finish.

This is exactly what happened. Atlus was put in a bit of a spot, and (I'm sure) they tried to find the best solution.

Considering that there's little to no way the append disc alone would sell for less than $30, I'd say this is a pretty great solution! I didn't really expect we'd get FES at all until the countdown, even with the rumors and the voice casting stuff. It makes me want to unhinge my jaw like a snake so I could kiss all of Atlus. But that would probably make them very uncomfortable.

So how does FES work? Is it an expansion that happens after the main game, or are new things scattered throughout?

I don't think I'll get around to playing this again, but I plan to buy it anyway. I never bought P3 (since I got a "trade demo" reviewable). $30 is definitely nice.

The fact that the Aegis episode is accessible seperately is nice. I think I still have my saves, but I definitely don't think I'm going to burn through a 90 game again any time soon.

What Mech/shidoshi posted + there's a new dungeon-crawly bonus storyline that takes place after the game ends. It's long and (by most accounts) very difficult, even on Normal. You can play it even if you haven't beaten the main game.
