Persona 2 is really slow, it's good, but finding the balance of talking to demons and fighting them (without grinding) is kinda irritating. It's A LOT different though' seriously 2-3 the series changes drastically. 1 and 2 are closer to the SMT games with demon negotiation etc; but they all have the premise of being based around school children and being an interjection into real life.
I still need to finish Nocturne and P4.
I'm probably just gonna skip it, especially since I have P3P and Tactics Ogre on this piece.
Someday I need to go back to P3P, I put about 35 hours into it and set it aside when another PSP rpg came out and just never went back.
Yeah, Persona 2 is awesome if you came into the series back in the day, but if your exposure to Persona has come from Persona 3/4, it can be really, really hard to get into. I really enjoy playing it (as well as the origin), but it's hard for me to recommend at this point unless you're hardcore into the MegaTen stuff.
I heard a rumor that everyone who doesn't think Persona 2 is the best game(s) in the series is going to get a note...

Like many old school RPGs, the Persona 2 games are better in an emulator where you can fast forward during battles. Great game, though, but old school in terms of gameplay.
Persona 1/2 and 3/4 are really two different series.
This is like the 5th time I've tried getting into P3, but only the second time it's been FES. I really didn't care for the stripped down PSP version. I wish I could marry the openness and production values of P3FES with the gameplay improvements of P3P. I really miss being able to control my dudes.Quote:

I've always hated games that give you lots of characters, but don't spread exp out evenly among them unless they're "in play." I've got a Persona that I need to level up two levels to get a spell I need. But of course since it has an elemental weakness, just about every enemy I encounter is strong against this dude's attack and also has an attack it's weak to. I just lost an hour of grinding because an encounter in which the 4 enemies got a bullshit first attack, spammed my weakness and killed me.
Oh yeah, I also hate rpgs that make it game over if the protaganist falls in a fight regardless of other characters being alive that could bring him back before the fight ends.
edit: and another "oh yeah." Fuck the stupid "tired" gimmick. Especially since there doesn't seem to be a warning that your dudes are about to fall victim to it, thus burning another day that you can't grind out.
Persona 4 shits all over this thing. (as it should, but still.)
