So after surviving in power almost 50 years, Fidel has finally decided he'd like to be on a beach somewhere drinking Cuban Rum. His brother will probably take over, meaning it's still the embargo for the country, but history has turned a page today. This also means Fidel is probably going to be dead within 6 months.
Also, his brother has seemingly been much more open than Castro himself.
I smoked a delicious Montecristo over the weekend to commemorate this. Even though I had no idea this was going to happen.
Not true at all. Raul is actually more secretive and willing to use his power. He's the former head of the Cuban Secret Police, the guy who did all of Fidels dirty work. It's like saying Cheney is warm and fuzzy.
I could have sworn I read a few articles about him trying to open channels between Cuba and the US as well as other countries.
Oh he may be trying to do that, but he's actually more hard line than his brother.
Fair enough.
