From elsewhere:
Cap has a pretty expensive computer, right? Who does he share it with and why doesn't he have his own separate user account on it?Quote:
Yep. But why would you log in to someone else's account on his computer? If, say, wEEman, said, "Hey, Ms. Unger, you should see this thread on Erik's favorite site and maybe print it out and read it to him. Here's the link . . .," would she need to go to his computer to access TNL? Wouldn't she just click the link he e-mailed her [or type in the URL he gave her] and access TNL under her own computer user account?
Anyway, no more speculation from me right now. I'm factfinding, not accusing.
If this turns out to be a prank I will be seriously pissed. I called in some serious favors from my work contacts. If this goes on further and isn't for real it could affect my career and/or credability.
That said, I trust nobody would be so callous as to play such an elaborate prank for no reason at all.
Well, I'm actually in Asia right now. However, I'll be back in American this upcoming week.
Regarding Nick's post, it never even crossed my mind that this would be some prank due its nature and magnitude. It would be really messed up if this was some scheme to get a good laugh or a quick buck. Nick's doing the right thing by being a little cautious and non-accusatory.
I'm sure this is unrelated, but I can't access the Facebook group for some reason.
He hasn't logged into Xbox Live since the 14th, so the story checks out there.
The facebook page works fine for me.
Oh, and I think it's good that Nick is verifying things, but I have little reason to doubt that Cap is in the hospital or that the story is true. Nothing was brought up or mentioned until WE started asking where he's been during a game of Gears on thursday, and nothing was posted here until I said something in the Gears thread, here.
People wanted to know what happened so Weeman posted in Fight Club to keep it low-key. If it were a prank I would imagine they would have been more forceful about it. I mean, donations or gifts were never even asked for, we took the initiative on that ourselves.
I would be pissed if it was a prank, but then, that means he didn't get his skull bashed in and in ICU for a week+. That is actually Great (as long as TNLers get their donation back).
Yeah the reason his account shows that he logged in on the 21st is because his mom tried to send me a private message from his account.
I can even tell you the account it got sent to (she wasn't sure which account was mine, so it got sent to someone else whose account resembles my real name), and the gist of what it said, if you guys have the power to trace PMs and need any further proof.
