[10:45] joshwilkesbooth: and you've never baked something before?
[10:45] Kidnem0: never
[10:45] joshwilkesbooth: how old ru?
[10:46] Kidnem0: 30...but a real man is judged by the women he keeps around him to do things for him.
[10:46] joshwilkesbooth: this is true
I've never ever baked anything before.
I rarely ever cook and if I do it's something out of a box. Sup manwich?
So anyway, last week I decided to try baking.
From scratch, no boxes or premade mixes here.
What I attempt to bake is something, which from now on I will call kidnemo's sticky bunz.
Here is a little photo blog of first baking experience:
It all started with yeast. From reading online apparently it's hard to bake with yeast? I dunno, we'll see how it goes.

Next you take some eggs and flour and some other stuff and butter and yeast and mix them all together. I had trouble starting to mix this with the mixer, so at first I mixed it with my hands. It's okay, they were clean.

After getting the dough so that it stuck to itself more than me, I kneeded it for about ten minutes and dropped it into a buttered bowl.

Then I covered it with a towel and left it for two hours. I went and played some Skate on the xbox. Apparently it will double in size if everything went okay.

The dough ball is trying to take over it's red plastic prison. So far so good.

Next you toss down some flour down and roll this sucker out.

After it's rolled out you sprinkle some cinnamon and sugar down on the top of the dough. After that you roll it up into a little sticky bunz log.

Cut your log into about twelve or so similarly shaped rolls so that they all bake at around the same time. Set 'em aside for about an hour and let them rise a second time.
Yeast!
I like this part, I really felt like I accomplished something at this point.

OMG they are baking. This part took about forty minutes.
When they were baking I made the glaze, which consisted of butter, sugar, and vanilla.

And the finished kidnemo's sticky bunz with tasty tasty glaze!

So when all was said and done they turned out amazingly delicious and I was impressed everything went as smoothly as it did.
They are super cheap to make (no more than 10 bucks, less if you have some of the ingriedients already) but they do take quite a bit of time to make. Not to mention there is lots of clean up as well.
Things I'll do next time: sift my powdered sugar.
I want to try and make some crepes next I think.
Thoughts? Anybody here have any fat baking experience?
