this game was great. Mario had many new moves, and it's approved by Burgundy (he's a big fan of old school DK).
fans of the series will like it alot.

Thanks! I don't know why this game hasn't gotten much coverage. Do you know where I can find screenshots?

although i didn't mess around with it, it appears that the game does have a level maker.
i must say, this game was a lot of fun
im just waiting for Burgundy to find this thread, im sure he played the game a lot more then me.
But WHERE'S DK!?!
This game was a blast. Mario can even do a handstand jump! The only thing I don't understand is the cube-gba connectivity.
apparently the game is just gonna be an extra that comes with some GameCube games. im not too sure though. oh, and you can save whatever levels you designed on your memory cards.Quote:

also, Mario's backflip that he does when swinging on poles is cool too. lot of fun.
Thanks! Looks neat so far. :) Although I wanted a screenshot with DK and Pauline, this will do for now.
I really hope that won't be the case.Quote:

I loved the original super Gameboy Donkey Kong that this is the appearent sequel too, so I personally can't wait.
Is this a GC game or a GBA game?
I'm surprised Nintendo doesn't make up a special GBA-Gamecube package (complete Gamecube, one GBA, one link cable), would definitely open a broader base for these mini games and Nintendo seems to be stressing the compatiblity. *-neo
GBA, with a GC level editor.Quote:

I can't wait for the new DK. Those pics look classic Nintendo.
This a great little game, but I don't think it's so much a sequel as a remake. It's DK94 cleaned up and in color, with the Cube level editor. I hope there will be new levels, but I don't know anything about that. In addition to using the Cube to edit your own levels, it appeared that you can play on the Cube screen as well. I really liked the art direction of the Cube game visuals - they reminded me of Colorforms. :) I still don't understand how the connectivity works, though, and neither were the reps - I don't see how the GBA can drive the Cube w/o a disc, and I certainly hope this isn't just a GBA download from a Cube disc. The only way I see this working is a package with both a disc and a cart. Unless Nintendo packs the editor onto Donkey Kong Racing or something.
oooooh, that looks sweet!
I don't know how it's slipped thru my radar for so long, but I'll have to keep tabs on it now.
Thanks for the impressions guys!
That screen IS the first level of Donkey Kong '94. So I guess it really is a remake.Quote:
im sure if anything, it'll be a remake with a shit load of new levels. level editor should add a lot to the game. well, that was if the GameCube could go online and allow you to trade levels and what not.

I can't believe it. It's been a year since this thread was made and it's still not out. I hope it'll come out eventually. If it's not out by next year, then I doubt it'll come out at all.
I thought this thread was about the GBC version of Donkey Kong being shown on the Super Gameboy... :chick: All in all though, a new DK game on the GBA would be pretty damn nifty.
It's the first original level. DK94 featured the original DK levels up front.Quote:

I wouldn't count on it. The original has so many levels that Nintendo could get away with not offering any more.Quote:

Well, it was level 1-1. The old-school levels were 0-1, 0-2, 0-3, and 0-4.Quote:

I love how Mario's sprite looks like his sprite from Super Mario World... old skool!!!
When other companies reuse sprites you guys get cranky.
Only when Capcom does it.
And, to be honest, if they actually EVER updated say... Morrigan, and then five years later, decided to use her old sprite, as an old-skool throwback, I'd probably like it.
Will this beauty ever come out?
So frustrating...
It's look new to me.Quote:

I played this at E3 two years ago, but didn't see much of it at this year's E3. From what I remembered two years ago, you design the levels on the Gamecube and download them onto the GBA. There have better be some new levels, because I'm not compelled to play Donkey Kong '94 again on my Gamecube, even with a level editor.

The style looks sorta similar.
Similar does not mean same (which is what I'm pointing out) and to me, Midget Mario looks the same in all games. But it's definitely not the same sprite.Quote:
