Reading comprehension...he didn't fall on the knife, he was holding it in his hand that he must've burned when he jerked and stabbed himself. His mistake was holding the knife in a hand that was in danger of being burnt, the jerking reaction was completely involuntary. He fell down later after he stabbed himself likely from his injury taking it's toll.

I cook for a living...the guy certainly made a mistake, but the natural reaction is to jerk when you burn yourself (especially when you touch something that's 400 degrees). The knife could've been much smaller, a well sharpened kitchen knife wouldn't need much force to stab 2-3 inches into a persons chest.
