Wall-E had a lot of pretty imagery that stimulates a lot of stupid thoughts like buttplant did.
Despite being full of 2001 references, it is kind of like a kid's version of 2001.

you're mother is stupid thoughts
what I figured went down is someone was up late one night watching the first short circuit and thought it would be cool to make a movie about that 20 minute stage in the movie where he learns he is alive, but can't really talk. Say, up until the point that he stays up all night watching TV.
Spoilers ahead..
Reading comprehension must be difficult for you, amirite?
Right off the bat, the premise is terrible. From the previews I could tell this was a borefest, but rotten and some forums convinced me it might actually be good. Ya FUCKING right. It was SHITE-E.
The story fucking blew. It's about a robot that has a personality and is lonely. It's left on earth to clean up while the human race rests in space. Another robot comes back and Wall-E falls for it. I'm sorry, but there is no buildup or anything of the sort.
I also loved how conveniently Eve's security camera turned on and saw all the nice things Wall-E did for it. I don't know, it seemed like an easy way out of an already crappy story.
OMG WALMART OMG ALONE IN THE UNIVERSE OMG LOVE B/T TWO OPPOSITES ETC ETC
There's so much fucking random shit trying to be crammed into SHIT-E. Global warming, big corporations, diabetes, laziness, wtf? Give us a fucking story.
Any sympathy I felt felt cheap because the robot was made to look like a loser from the start. The way the animation was done with it's body shivering and it's eye movements felt like cheap tactics used. The audience went "awww" like 5 times. It's fucking easy to do that.
With Toy Story, the entire story of toys coming alive and having life to help Andy by being there for him. Then he gets a new toy, Buzz Lightyear, which believes he's the real deal. When he found out he was just a toy, you felt sorry for him. That's because there was good buildup with a solid premise.
No need, your mom gave me the keys last night..
aren, you hate fun, we get it. plz lv
There wasn't a hint of either global warming or diabetes in Wall-E. You sure you didn't see some other movie entirely?
James
Wait, you mean being unbelievably creative visual story tellers and conveying that through their characters is now a "cheap tactic" that Pixar uses to elicit emotion from their viewers? You sure have an interesting perspective on things. /wtf/. Plus the fact that you think what Pixar did with the Wall-E character is "fucking easy to do" shows how much knowledge you lack about the medium as whole.
Oh I love fun. Gimmie Toy Story, Nemo, and Incredibles any day over this SHIT-E movie.
I stated those cause I was on a roll.. however, there was a lot of smoke and pollution from what I can tell.. and the diabetes remark could be applied to fat future of our world.. work with me here..
Valid argument. The way I see Pixar movies is by great story telling with a good premise to back it up. The amazing animations are always a plus and Pixar never disappointed.
However, with this movie, Pixar dropped the ball from telling a good story with a good premise and just gave us animation to win the people over. I'm not saying it didn't work and obviously it did, but it just doesn't feel like a movie that delivered on all fronts like most of Pixar's earlier films.
But just because the movie didn't deliver what you expected doesn't mean it didn't deliver. Because it sure as hell did. The movie set out to be a movie driven by the characters, and it delivered in spades.
Regardless of your personal opinion, nearly every person I have talked with about the movie, or read reviews from, has been wow'd by Pixar's ability to convey interesting, creative, and likable characters in a rather bleek and mundane setting that really shouldn't allow for those types of characters. On top of that, they did so without the use of any spoken lines in the first 45 min. An extremely difficult and daring thing to do in a movie that is being targeted towards a younger demographic. Plus, they did that while giving the audience an extremely original and creative take on a sci-fi story, ESPECIALLY for this medium and tone of film.
Unfortunately for you, you're in the VAST minority when it comes to this movie. It was creative, interesting, well thought out, and impeccably executed. Not the best Pixar movie as far as I'm concerned, but an all around fantastic and well made film.
I saw it again today and liked it more.
I'll tell you what though, the opening pan across the world with what looks like awful VG "fog of war" is awful. It just looks bad. It is, probably, the only shot from any Pixar movie that I would really say looks bad.
Sometimes their fake depth of field camerawork didn't quite work right, but most of the time it was spot on.
