Community Service

Does anyone here get involved in their community? Any advice on how to get started?

I was once required to get involved in my community for 40 hours.

VOLUNTARY community work can be a great experience that will hopefully give you a little perspective on life.

I have found library's typically have some sort of posting area for organizations looking for volunteers. I know I have found some there. You could also try churches depending on how you feel about God folk.

I used to volunteer at a local animal shelter. I would walk the dogs and play with the kitties. It was awesome. If I still had time, I would still be doing it.

LOL. IronPlant, just get arrested for DUI. Then you can do all kinds of community service.

I want to say that I'm doing way too much community service, but then...helping out in your community is supposed to be never enough, am I right? Current things that I'm doing and that anyone can do by looking at their local city/town website:

Beach Cleanup
Rescue Mission
Reading For Kids (I think this one is national)

School/Long Beach related:

Long Beach BLAST (Better Learning After School Today)
Topsail Youth Program
Bunny Project
