i'm not saying not to do it...but you have to do your homework

Ford is a good one to get in on when it gets lower. They restructured their whole R&D department and the cars on the horizon ... are cost effective ... importing their Euro cars and streamlining their plants.

auto industry is really tough, especially when you think ahead to shifting energy possibilities. is ford investing in renewable energy technology or are they at the mercy of the oil market?

i wouldn't buy a ford, at least yet, so i wouldn't buy ford stock

Also they're a solid company overall, a survivor and have the government by national pride in the auto industry plus avaliability of government pork. Once the market truely bottoms out I'd go bargain hunting into the autoindustry.

Heavily investing. But you won't see the results till 2010 model year ... aka next year when all of the new Fords hit the market.

Redesigned Ford Taurus - Bringing back an old name plate that is recognizable.

Ford Focus/Mondeo - First of many in Ford new philospohy. Bring over the Euro cars that have better designs and lighter than the right now domestically designed.

Ford Ka - Fiat and Ford shared car that is small and light. Designed to fight the Mini and its cheaper and more fuel efficient.

Ford Fiesta - designed in Europe, built in Mexico using the old Ford F-150 plant they redecoed the place to now produce this car. 3 door and 5 door hatch, its cheap 16k and fuel economic.

Just them bringing cars from Europe and refitting them for America is cheaper than what they are doing now.

The Ecotec engine will debut this year and its cheaper to make, saves on fuel, and gets as much HP as their current engines.

Don't invest in companies held hostage by union labor.

My bet is we'll bottom out mostly by January once the dismal Christmas spending comes in. Low consumer confidence, lack of credit, percieved crisis = matress money. New Year's will be Christmas for bargain hunters. January we'll have a new president sworn in and that'll boost national pride/confidence and we'll see a bump for that week.

If Obama wins the election, the Dow is going to get drilled the day after election day. It happened both times Clinton was elected. That's not a political statement; It's fact. Wall Street hates Democrats.
