You should've still tried to make out with his penis.
Good going, Sapphire. Ya never know unless you try.
He really should have answered "I'm engaged" to the "Are you married?".
Sounds like the dude was looking for some ego stroking.
If it happens again, reply with a "Well, why don't you technically fuck off."
You're being very logical and stone faced about this -- two characteristics not usually present in women. Eventually she will grow attached to you and you will have to break it off or go exclusive or she will grow tired of you and you will become second dick to whoever else she's going out with that week (who she could grow attached to and break it off with you).
What I'm saying is that status quo cannot stand for very long, so if that's how it is enjoy it while you can.
It sounds like he enjoyed her flirting with him, otherwise he would have just come out and said it up right. So Sapphire at least you gave him a few jollies before he cut you off. That's a promising sign. Also cleavage goes a long way.
Don't read this Sapphire:
Could have been hoping for more tips, too. He's a bartender after all -- he probably gets hit on a lot.
I hate to say it but Drew's right, no bartender is going to tell a woman he's engaged unless it's absolutely necessary.
True, missed the part where he's a bartender.
My first thought was that he's a bartender at The Abbey. He probably switches from being gay to straight depending on who he's serving. Gay money still pays the bills. Sapphire, that takes balls (especially you're first time) so kudos to you!
Thanks, guys and gals of TNL. I figured that if guys have to suck it up and go up to people all of the time, that I should try it and see what would I really lose? I was disappointed and my ego was bruised a little, but I'll live. Hopefully next time I won't be as fragmented in my conversation (Talking to the guy three times is too much, but I didn't want to give up until I finished the whole shebang).
I did almost back out of hitting on him because he was a bartender (I did think about his hit rate). The bartender factor itself wasn't really as intimidating because I have some limited experience in bartending. I'm a licensed bartender with National School of Bartending and I thought that if worse came to worse that I'd chat him up about recipes.
