I watched the review on G4 awhile back, sounded really good although a 2nd go around sounds like it'll take care of the weird form issues.
This is the complaint that I see the most about the Kindle and I really don't understand it. This device is for reading books, magazines, and newspapers. That's all it was designed to ever be. If you want extra functionality than you are better off doing you e-book reading on a palm pilot or a lap top computer.
Isn't there some way to put PDF files on it anyway (though at like a dime per file or something).
Waitasec. Paying to put files you already own onto a device you purchaced?
That sounds like a plan for assholes.
There is absolutely no e-book or e-whatever the fuck you call it that displays books that even comes close to matching the Kindle. The Kindle is the closest thing you can ever get to accurately recreating a paper book surface. I don't have one, but I've used one and it is outstanding.
There's just something about the luminosity level and the display that FEELS like a book, or rather translates the feel well. The Sony Ericson above doesn't even come close. It's a chore to read things off of that screen.
The worst thing about the Kindle is the industrial design, which Amazon has actually stated it knows sucks but they focused on getting it to function first, and will get the design looking hot later on in future generations.
So anyway, Kindle is a step in the right direction.
So I can read on this thing for 3 hours and not have my eyes feel like they are melting?
Yes. That's why it's so awesome.
If the thing takes a price drop and Amazon keeps expanding the library, I'll probably get one. I wouldn't mind a color feature for images, but this is a start.
