Phillies took first place last night against the Padres. Their starting rotation has been fairly decent (Myers needs to get his shit together though or go back to the bullpen) and their bullpen has been stellar. Lidge looks like his old self and has been completely lights out. Chase Utley is probably the most awesome guy in the world and ice water pumps through the veins of Cole Hamels. I can't wait until August and September to see how well this club will truly fare.

Another fluke by Wang tonight.

Last nights Mets lineup was the best I've seen all year with Alou coming back and putting Church in the two hole and Castillawl hitting 8th. When Schneider comes back it'll be even better. Watch Willie fuck it up and change it again.

Shawn Marcum battles through a pesky stomach-flu to rack up nine strikeouts for the Jays last night.
He struck out two in the first frame, threw up between innings, fanned another White Sox in the second, then vomited again.
Jays opponents have only scored three runs in the last four games, yet they only have a 2-2 record to show for it.
Aside: We should rename this, "The Official Mets/Yankees/Phillies/Red Sox/Jays thread."
-
We should force our pitchers to vomit between innings every game.
-
Nice comeback the Mets almost had.

What's with this X W-L crap being on MLB's standings page? Who cares about "expected" W-L (read the fine print on the bottom of MLB's page: RS^1.82/((RS^1.82)+(RA^1.82)) )?

Nice job by the Mets taking 2 out of 3 from the Diamondbacks. Johan and Haren only went 6 innings each but an error from Conor Jackson in the 9th inning gave the Mets a chance to score some runs and they took full advantage.
Next up is the Dodgers. Hopefully Oliver Perez can go past the second inning this time.
btw: Church is God.

Kennedy sent down. Yanks down to a 3 man rotation.

Everytime a good pitching match-up between Hamels and another dominator comes up, it never turns out to be a pitchers game. Regardless, Phils remain in first.
